my eyelids grew heavy and shut themselves off to the world…and I decided right then and there not to worry ever again…about what tomorrow might bring.

Dear reader, the central idea of this short story, though penned so many moons ago, is the prequel to an as of yet unwritten tale which I hope will someday become a fantasy to be enjoyed by children of all ages, ranging from say around 9 or 10 to perhaps 100 years or older.
Imagine if you will, a world that dwells within the mind of a child who cannot see; a child who cannot speak; a child who cannot hear; a child who alas cannot even move a muscle. One the other hand, in no way is this a world of make-believe. On the contrary, it is a real world made up of real heroes who struggle with villains who are also all too real. It is a world that rises when this poor boy sleeps, and conversely it is world whose rectangular purple sun sets when he opens his eyes. And furthermore, it is a world whose future is entwined with the fate of this invalid soul. For if by some miraculous chance the boy is cured then it will surely be the end of this land called New Earth; pounded into extinction by forces that only Mother Nature can fully understand. But on the other hand if this sickly boy is succumbed to an early death by his many maladies then what is to become of this magical world? Will its purple sun rise forevermore as the child is plunged into eternal sleep…or perhaps this ancient land will go to its grave with him, never to be heard from again.
As you may have guessed by now my friend, this world of which I speak is the world of Francisco “Kid Cisco” the tree dweller; it is the world of Felonious “Fel” the honorable thief; it is the world of Courtney “Court” the roguish jester; it is a world of romance and loves lost and found; it is a world of loyalty and betrayal; but most of all it is a world dedicated to the bravery of mankind and the purity of the heart. And of even greater importance, it is a world which resides within us all; there for all to see if we would only open our eyes and let in the light which warms our very souls. It is a world within the world…of Giovanni Amore.
