Read The Unfolding Page 8

stupid?

Just because they see it on TV,

do they rush out and buy, needed or not?

"Hey honey look what I bought,

  advertised last night on TV

  on sale at half price!"

"A snow blower? Have you lost you mind,

or did you forget one tiny detail?"

"No, I don't think so, what?"

"Let me refresh that so-called brain of yours,

we've lived in a condo for the last ten years

and the last time we had snow

  was in 1965!"

Some are that impulsive and thoughtless

but the economy being what it is

  crass consumerism is becoming

more a matter of eyes than arms!

But as long as there's commercial TV

there will be dumb ads to fool the fools

to buy what they don't need

  with money they don't have.

  Visions

  Fear not!

  behold the seeds of visions

  encrusted in night light

  wandering wondering.

  Hold them aloft

to the light of dawn remembering:

  conceive new life.

  In infinite particles.

as energy streaming from a blazing sun,

  plant them boldly

in the garden of your thoughts,

  there to sprout freely,

  to blossom unhindered.

  Grace

When you lose your magic wand,

  your power to change the world;

  when you’ve been buffeted about

  by the storms of harsh experience;

  when filled with darkness,

  and beaten down by despair,

  call upon Spirit in your sorrow;

  believe in infinite grace.

  And by pure thoughts bidden,

  she will come at your call;

she will stand at your side

  until the morning light.

She may not walk with you

wherever you go in man’s world,

  but when you look around

  you’ll see the world differently.

  The Woman In The Park

  Sunny Sunday morning

  and I noticed her again,

  the woman in the park

  sitting quietly near a shrub

  among the waving daffodils.

  Quiet she may have been

but the gaze that met mine

  said so many things.

  I first saw sorrow

but it was not for herself

  for I saw compassion

  when she looked over the city;

  then I saw wonder

  at the beauty that surrounded her;

  I saw amusement

in a pair of clumsy ducklings

  waddling through the grass;

  I saw laughter

when a child handed her a flower

  and finally, I saw love

when I offered her my hand.

  Evening

  As shadows lengthen

  upon the ground,

  and distant suns

  begin to sparkle,

  I feel at peace

  letting the day

  fade out to memories

  not regretting

  a single piece

  of daytime spent.

  Chaos

  Let the chaos rage on!

  Let it destroy everything treasured

  in money and power's worth!

  Let governments crumble;

let bank vaults spring open wide

in an earthquake of shattering change!

  Why be afraid of change

caused by the awakening of spirit

set free from an age-old prison?

If I must send love, love I send!

  If compassion, compassion I give!

to heal all caught in the web of pain

  caused by stagnancy and despair!

Let those who judge me, judge,

if I seem to lack concern for a system

that has used earth and her children

as slaves and victims of its hunger:

  why protect the exposed murderer?

If, fearless, you can see beyond the chaos,

you have already begun to change!

  Soon understanding will return,

spreading to all the people of earth

  dreaming of a new world.

  Angel Anger

I remember when we first met

  When we first meant something

  In the world together.

  Angel you called me.

My angel, my beautiful, simple angel

  And your arm curled warmly

  Around my slim waist.

Your lips found my smile and ate it.

I wondered under a small cloud:

Would you get tired of simple me

  When my pretty became boring?

But the love was good, the bed warm.

  We walked more miles together

  (until)

I became slow, stupid and boring.

I became a leech ruining your life.

Now you abuse me, suppress me,

You crush my dreams, suck my life,

  (but)

  I’m the angel you crowned,

  Danced with, loved, married.

Deny me, yes: it changes nought.

I’m still your angel, but of changed mien:

  Angry, avenging, terrible.

Yesterday I was the angel of love,

Tonight, I’m the angel of terror

  Responding to your choices.

  A Life Is Freed

  Gentle light filters through

steel bars enclose an empty room

I look out and try to reach

  the sky's deep blissful blue:

is that where my long-time companion

  now flies free?

will I ever see him again,

  in some other reality

  far from this lonely place?

  'Tis said some birds

  cannot be caged:

  their feathers lose their colours;

their songs the echo of the wilderness

  and by degree they die.

How then should a human life,

  knowing its time has come

be set free of the body

  to join the boundless light

  of Eternity's spring?

Though I rejoice in his freedom

and I knew it had to be thus...

how drab, how cold and empty

is this place his presence sanctified.

Before the Owl Calls my Name

[Explaining the title: According to the Kwakiutl people of the British Columbia coast

(Canada) if you hear an owl call your name, your death is imminent.]

The night fills me with its seductive darkness

A moon’s halo slides through thin clouds

All is silent, as silent as the deep of space

And I lie here in the back seat of your car,

Your big old Buick of romantic days gone by

But we are young yet, or almost young

And all that matters now is that you are here

Naked against my own throbbing nakedness

My heart beating in the moment’s madness

Orgasm and death blending so well together.

Hold me and press your maleness into me

But don’t just make love to me, I want more

  possess me beyond my dreaming

Devour my longing, my hopeless desire

  Eat my flesh

Leave nothing of what I once called me

But the lingering scent of your moaned pleasure

When my body turns itself inside out

To give you all my life in one thrust

Do this to me, do this for me

Before the owl calls my name

  And tells me I wil
l not see another sunrise.
