Read Through My Rhymes - Volume 1 Page 2

Return To Sender

He sits writing letters to his love every day,

Trying to forget that his love moved away,

Sometimes they be heartfelt or simply a poem,

He always felt she never truly got to know him.

He sends cards on her birthday and flowers too,

Never getting a reply back, not even a word or two,

Never got her number so he couldn't even call,

Nothing could prepare him for the lengths he would fall.

Woke one Saturday and checked his mail box,

Feel to the ground like he'd been shot,

All of this time he thought she'd remember,

That's when he got the letter 'Return to Sender'.

We think we know somebody until they move away,

They take your heart with them hoping they'd be back one day,

Every day you want to hold them and just plain remember,

Then your hearts shoved back when you receive 'Return to Sender'.

  Lover

Sweep them off their feet as soon as they walk in the door,

Tell them how much they are the one you adore,

How you'll cook them dinner or rub their feet if they're sore,

Focus on the now and then and never the before.

She makes you happy or he makes you laugh,

Why would anyone want to give up that?

Keep it real and seal every moment with a kiss,

Treat them like every day is Christmas.

Take a chance on a lover,

Don't judge a book by its cover,

Hold her close and hug her,

Always tell her how much you love her.

  Make them your one forever,

  Leave them never,

  Smile and treat them right,

Fall in love and not just for one night.

  Rap To The Rhythm

Rap to the rhythm of the street,

Rap to the rhythm of tapping feet,

Rap to the rhythm of blood flowing deep,

Rap to the rhythm without needing to speak.

Feel the music infect your blood stream,

Cold as ice letting you blow off steam,

Hell's frozen over like a bad dream,

Need it and want it like a drug fiend.

Spark up the MP3 or just sit in the gutter,

Feel the words grow from nothing to a mutter,

Mutter to a sentence, sentence to a release,

Hit that one note that finally brings your soul peace.

The flowing of water, the kicking of a can,

All sounds to rap to, even the clapping of your hand,

Lend yourself to the moment and finally understand,

If you hit the nerve, it goes from can't to can.

The will is within and ready to strive,

Everyday is another day for you to live your life,

Every breath is a blessing and feel the release within,

Rap to life's beat and just tap your feet.

Rap to the rhythm of the street,

Rap to the rhythm of tapping feet,

Rap to the rhythm of blood flowing deep,

Rap to the rhythm and find your voice to speak.

  Walking

Walking the street mind caught in a beat,

Homeless people wrapped up trying to get heat,

No shoes on their feet, acting like no one cares,

Seems we donate to overseas when they're right there.

People walking past me, others running scared,

Trying to protect his shoes like he can't afford a new pair,

He can't look back, not a moment to spare,

That's when a shot went off and he stopped right there.

I've got to keep walking, I'm almost home,

That when I felt the vibration of my mobile phone,

Ghosts keep telling me to leave it alone,

That's when it stopped and I heard the message tone.

Put my earphones in to just zone out,

No cars are coming so I cross at the roundabout,

Truth be told I thought I wouldn't hold out,

But that's the way you think when you're minds in doubt.

The cold night air is still filling my lungs,

Feel like writing something, I will when it comes,

Close my eyes and stretch my neck,

Knowing home is in a few more steps.

Cars racing by with the stereo blaring,

Crazy neighbours are always shouting and swearing,

Up the stairs and put my key in,

Finally home and tomorrow I get to sleep in.

I Shouldn’t Of Ever Let You Go

I shouldn’t of ever let you go,

That’s just something that I thought you should know,

I shouldn’t of ever let you go,

That’s just something that I thought you should know.

Never a day goes by that you aren’t on my mind,

Catching myself saying, ‘Hey, remember the time’,

I guess I’m just trying to remain blind to the fact,

That you are never ever going to be coming back.

Been harder on me than you will ever know,

All this time has given me, time to grow,

But like you said, if I don’t change,

Then it’ll be love I’ll never know.

Hit my darkest times here, since my dad died,

I often start to wonder whether my heart has died,

Listening to all these songs thinking I should’ve tried,

I just lose sleep now on all the nights I cried.

Been harder on me than you will ever know,

All this time has given me, time to grow,

There’s just one thing, that I thought you should know,

I shouldn’t of ever let you go.

  Imagine

Imagine what we could do if we loved,

Imagine what we could do if we cared,

Imagine that we could grow old together,

But I can only imagine now because you aren’t there.

My bed feels lonely, like you were never there,

My heart feels lonely, like you never really cared,

My mind feels hollow, missing secrets we could’ve shared,

  I guess I forgot that a heart breaks and I wasn’t prepared.

But if happiness is the sweetest kind of revenge,

Then one day I hope to have mine,

But I guess I’d feel even better just leaving it behind,

What we could’ve had, would’ve been one of a kind.

  I imagine what I could’ve wrote,

  I imagine what I could’ve said,

I imagine more now than I ever have,

But I imagine to you now, I’m dead.

Imagine what we could do if we hugged,

Imagine what we could do if we kiss,

Imagine what we could do to change our lives,

But I can now only imagine all of this.

  Happy New Year (2013)

Under the moon, the stars, the sky and the sun,

The dawning of a new day, of a new year has begun,

Ringing are the echoes of auld land syne being sung,

Out with the old year and in with the new one.

May 2013 be better to you and bring you joy,

Whether it be health, wealth, love, a baby girl or boy,

May you be surrounded by love and never feel afraid,

I'm here for you, like so many, if you require aid.

May the only tears shed be from joy and happiness,

May our hearts be filled with warmth and forgiveness,

May any contact you have with me, make you smile,

I apologise if you haven't heard from me in awhile.

May 2013 be the best year that you've ever had,

With all the friends, family & love you could ever have,

  Let it be the
greatest year that the smile hurts your cheeks,

Happy New Year and lots of love till the next time we meet.

  Write To Say

  Please bear with me,

I’ve got a lot to say,

  Just read and don’t stop,

  Please don’t turn away.

I need to get this off my chest,

  I’ve carried it too long,

So I want you to know this,

Just in case something goes wrong.

I never wanted to miss a moment,

  To see you in anyway,

And of everything I wanted to say,

  I kept it hidden away.

  For fear of rejection,

I didn’t want to push you away,

I couldn’t have my heart torn,

All I wanted was you to stay.

  For every moment, every minute,

  Every passing day,

  Every word, every sentence,

  All I’ve wanted to say.

  Every smile, every laugh,

  Given half a chance,

I’ve loved you at first sight,

Even if it was a glance.

  Little Sally

  When the world seems over,

Just take a look over your shoulder,

Someone might just want to hold ya,

Let you know it's never going to be over.

Little Sally's just a girl with big aspirations,

Only 7 years old and is already short on patience,

She wants to act, wants to sing, she wants to change the world,

But her mama keeps reminding her she's just a little girl.

Sally sleeps under the covers but hears her mummy scream,

This is the third night in a row and she prays it's just a dream,

Plays shadow puppets under the covers pretending it's a screen,

Wants to grow up faster and become another runaway teen.

She doesn't know it just yet but the worlds getting colder,

Looks up at Britney, praying one day she'll be on a poster,

Mummy's had enough and grabs the gun from daddy's holster,

Pulls the trigger to kill daddy, only thinking about holding Sally closer.

Sally runs from her bedroom to see what mummy's done,

Mummy's crying, still holding Daddy's gun,

Mummy calls Sally over and gives her a big kiss,

Mummy tells Sally she did it because she couldn't live like this.

Sally puts on a brave face, Mummy said she's a trooper,

Sally's grown up so fast, Mummy tells her that she loves her,

Mummy turns the gun on Sally and holds her as she dies,

Mummy takes her own life with tears in her eyes.

  When the
