Dear Solace,
Honestly, I can’t say I’m familiar with the relationship pattern you mentioned. But then, I keep myself too busy for relationships most of the time, and on the rare occasions I succumb, I try to avoid relationships with mortals. They’re too full of problems and grief to be worth it. I’ve always felt more comfortable with others like us. There’s a sort of intellectual, emotional, and experiential connection that just isn’t possible with mortals.
It’s funny your mentioning places you’ve lived: Just the other day I realized I couldn’t recall where I lived during most of the 3100s. I knew that in 3099 I was living in Caiaxia, and in the 3180s and 90s I lived in Pithkaron. But I had (and still have) absolutely no idea where I lived in between. My memory’s normally excellent (not a boast, just a fact), but every now and then something like this crops up. Oh, the perils of age, even among those of us who don’t actually age.
As for something about me you don’t know. Let’s see. I guess the first thing that springs to mind is the fact that I was briefly the mayor of a small town. By briefly I mean about two days. It’s a long and silly and frankly unflattering story, so I won’t get into it except to say that it was all due to a case of mistaken identity and copious amounts of alcoholic beverages.
I’ve spilled my beans. Now it’s your turn: Tell me something I don’t know about you.
And, hey, if you’re trying to figure out where to live, I recommend Altolinda. As I said before, it’s scenic and quiet. Plus there’s good company. ;)
