Chapter 5: La captura de un asesino

  May 24, 2001

  9:58 A.m.

  Keystone Motel, Los Angeles, California

“Morning Max. Looks like you’re with me today… you hungry boy?”

  “Roof!”

The former model threw a piece of sizzling bacon to the dog from the old skillet he had thoroughly washed as he indulged himself that fine morning, a clear sky embracing the title of spring. With the few windows opened, both to take in the fresh air and allow the stink of cigarettes that had tainted the cheap motel to escape, Trevor certainly made the most of it; dressed only in cargo shorts, he let the heat smother his chiseled body, one once displayed prominently in magazines all over the world.

Not that the man particularly missed it all that much. His physique had to be kept perfect back then; no chocolate, bacon, or any other number of foods that true men called great. A pancake was considered a birthday meal back then, a once a year exception; now it was a weekly occurrence, if not daily when he had the mornings off.

A spoil that the mutt was all too happy to take part in. Catching another piece of bacon, he ate it greedily on the kitchen floor as the alarm went off, indicating the emergence of a new hour. With a smile, Trevor flipped a pancake as he mentally checked off the first step of the plan, all mapped out over the past few hours to do one thing.

It was time to catch a killer.
