Read Trouble at Camp Treehouse Page 4

“I want a copy of that picture,” Bess said.

  “Which one?” Lauren asked.

“The one of me swimming,” Bess said. “This is the bravest thing I’ve ever done.”

Nancy and Lauren laughed. “You aren’t exactly swimming,” Lauren teased.

“Oh, yes, I am,” Bess insisted. “For me, this is swimming!”

That night Nancy lay in her bunk before lights out. She opened her notebook to a clean page. Then she took out a pen and wrote:

Today I solved a mystery—the Trouble at Camp Treehouse—and found a missing camera. But guess what the trouble was?

The trouble was that people didn’t trust themselves. Lauren didn’t trust herself to be careful—but she was. Bess didn’t trust herself to go in the water—but she did it. And I didn’t trust myself to solve the mystery—but I did that, too.

Now the only trouble with Camp Treehouse is that it doesn’t last long enough! Tomorrow we have to go home. Oh, well.

  Case closed.
