not succeed, because her victim discovered it.

When their husband reached home, Ranziwane reported everything that had happened in his absence. But Thandi did not admit it when her husband asked her, and she pretended to cry, like one who did not do anything. So she called all her family and all her husband’s family and all her rival’s family for a big meeting at her house.

Ranziwane told them everything about their life at home. Thandi did not agree with her, and cried and said Ranziwane was lying and was opposing her. When the meeting finished Ranziwane politely asked forgiveness from everybody who was in the meeting and she said, “From now on all of us are witnesses. We will see who is changed or not, between us two.”

It happened that in no time Thandi went back to her old tricks. And this time she called a gang of guys, who attacked Ranziwane and left her almost dead. When Makanze knew what had happened, he called his family and all Ranziwane’s family and the whole of Thandi’s family, to make a final decision about Thandi’s behavior.

In this last meeting, Makanze told everybody who was in the meeting that Thandi was no longer his wife, because of her bad and dangerous behaviour. And he sent her away to her family, so that Thandi lost her marriage to Makanze.

At last Ranziwani remained as Makanze’s beloved wife, and they stayed happy for many years as a couple. They became the happiest couple and had children who were very well- educated, and their happiness grew bigger and bigger every day.

Everyone in the world knew about Makanze and Ranziwane’s story.

Once upon a time, there was a teacher called Rungo. During his lessons he fell in love with his student called Raci.

One day Rungo called her and said, ‘I am falling love with you; can I have you as my girlfriend?”

Raci said, “I would like to be your girlfriend, but I can’t because you are my teacher.”

Rungo said again, “If you love me I will make you happy; otherwise you will fail your exams.” Raci accepted, and they began to live together.

They were together for two years, but her life was not completely happy because the teacher was forcing her and she only agreed because she did not want to fail. They continued to live together, and then Raci got pregnant. She told Rungo and he said, ”You have to have an abortion. If you don’t do that, our love is finished.” She didn’t agree, and they separated.

Then she decided to take that information to the director of the school where Rungo was working. The director called Rungo in order to ask him about it, and he answered that he didn’t live with Raci any more. But because of this, Rungo lost his job.

So Raci lived alone and she had a son. The teacher never supported the son. She supported her son by herself, with difficulty.

After that, this problem did not happen any more in that school. Teachers usually loved their students and since that happened, it stopped.

Once upon a time, Matusse got married to Kaulisuane, who lived in Xipanela.

One day they decided to go to visit the wife’s parents, along with Matusse’s younger brother. When they arrived, the wife’s parents offered them a meal. They ate, but Matusse was ashamed. A man is always embarrassed in the presence of his mother-in-law. He only ate a little food. His wife and his brother ate plenty of food, but Matusse didn’t.

When they went to sleep, they were in the same hut, Matusse and his wife and his brother. Now Matusse was hungry and the wife’s parents had a farm, where they grew maize. During the night, Matusse wasn’t able to sleep hungry, so he decided to wake up and go to the farm to break off some maize.

In their house, they used only firewood for light, so when Matusse came back from the farm, he could not see where he was going. He was naked, and he got lost! He went into the mother-in-law’s hut and he started to roast his maize.

He tried to call his wife, “Kaulisuane, wake up and come and eat maize.” The mother-in- law looked at him but Matusse didn’t recognize that she wasn’t his wife, and he repeated again, “Kaulisuane, you won’t get anything to eat, because I told you let’s go and break off some maize and you refused, that’s why you won’t eat.”

Matusse started to touch the woman and repeated, “You won't eat.” His mother-in-law said, “I am not your wife! What do you want here, my son-in law?”

Matusse got up and started to run away to get back to his wife’s hut to put on his clothes. He told his wife and his younger brother to get up and leave. His wife asked, “What’s going on?” and Matusse just said, “Let’s go,” and he ran away and left them.

He told his brother to move and not to forget the door. The young brother said, “Yes,” and he broke the door down and pushed it out. He started to run to meet his brother. “What happened?” he said, “You told me not to forget the door.”

Matusse said, “Hey, man! I said close it, not knock it down!”

They left the door and ran away into the night.

They decided never to come back!

Many years ago, there was a boy who was looking for a girl to marry. His name was Randziwane and he was a teacher.

One day, when he was going to school he met a beautiful girl called Melita. They began talking. He asked her to be his wife. She accepted and then they arranged to go to Melita’s house so that Randziwane could introduce himself to Melita’s parents.

After arriving, he introduced himself to Melita’s parents and asked if he could marry their daughter, but they refused. The boy went back home sad and told his family what was happening. His family advised him to look for another girl but he wouldn't. He continued to make love with her, and took the girl to his house without the permission of her parents.

Later on Melita met another man and began dating him. Randziwane discovered and separated from her.

After that, Melita lived alone in a small house. She couldn’t go back to her parents´ house because she had left without their permission. She was alone because all of her boyfriends had left her. The new one who had slept with her broke up as soon as he found out that Melita and Randziwane had been together.

Now Melita began to prostitute herself because she had nobody to support her. After some months she got pregnant. As she was a prostitute she didn’t know the father of that baby. She went back to her first boyfriend and told him that she was expecting a baby. But Randziwane didn’t accept that the baby was his, because he had separated from her a long time ago.

She went back home and told her parents what had happened. Her parents brought Melita to Randziwane’s home in order to solve the problem. They said to Randziwane, “Randziwane, she is your wife because, on the first day you came to us to introduce yourself. We refused but you didn’t listen and continued making love with her. So now, we don’t want to know anything about it. She is going to stay with you. Goodbye.”

But by this time Randziwane had another girlfriend who was also pregnant. Her name was Makalanjombo, which means someone with no luck. So Makalanjombo and Melita both sat around with Randziwane. But Randziwane, which means someone who has good luck in love, didn’t have any idea how to live with both of them!

  Five Minutes

“Which result do you expect to get?” asked the doctor.

“Any of the two. Either positive or negative,” replied Paulo.

At first, Paulo didn’t really know what the result would be. Many things had happened in his life before he decided to see the doctor for a blood test. He was one of those peo
ple who believed in psychological illnesses and that one is only affected when they find out they are infected by the disease.

It was only when he found out that his father was positive that he decided to see the doctor. Paulo was his father’s eldest son. He went to the hospital with his father every time he had to go, either to get the medication or get examined. This experience taught him about the effects of the disease and how cruel it is.

Paulo is a tall and good-looking man. His colour is like a mixture of coffee and milk. Women are impressed by his wide brown eyes. He had always used his charm to have any woman he liked.

The doctor pricked Paulo’s left-hand index finger and put a drop of blood on the slide and explained to him how to work out the result.

“Look, Paulo, the blood is going to run from left to right. After it has reached the other end of the slide, there will be either two vertical lines or two horizontal lines. This will tell you what the result is. If there are two horizontal lines you are negative, but if there are two vertical lines the result is positive. This takes no more than five minutes,” she said.

The blood started to crawl through the slide. Paulo’s heart started to beat fast and the temperature became twice as hot for him. He started to remember all the relationships he had had. He remembered the women he went out with. The women who he dated. Those who he just slept with and those who he just kissed. He also remembers Rita, the last woman he slept with.

“If I’m positive that’s because of her. Of course I could only get it from her. This woman was not loyal to her boyfriend. When I
