Chapter Thirteen
A Bigger Threat
A few days after the battle between Umbra and Vog, a mysterious, hooded figure had somehow made it to the top of the mountain where the chamber was. The sky was dark and clouded, and the wind was extremely powerful. For some reason, Vog's body was absent from the scene, and Umbra's was missing as well.
The mysterious figure held his hood as he approached the stone slabs that trapped The Prophecy Destroyer. Standing in front of the chamber for a second, he took in a couple of deep breaths. He slowly raised his right hand, placing it on the cold stone slab.
"Hello?" He whispered out. He looked down at the ground, seeing the little pebbles trembling. "Are you there?" The mysterious hooded figure unhooded himself with his left hand. He kept his face hidden in the shadows.
"Aaron?" A dark whisper came out from the other side of the stone slabs. "Aaron Malmsteen? Clev's boy? Is that you?"
Aaron grew a grin on his face as he was now talking to the right person. "I am not Clev's boy!" Aaron sighed for a minute before speaking again. "But yes, it is I. How goes the plan?"
"It's all sorting out," the dark whisper called out. "Vog is dead, and the boy knows nothing about our plans. Shadow has kept quiet about this. Everything is working out smoothly."
"Excellent," Aaron said. "It is almost time. Soon I will be in control of Shadow, and you, Pen, will finally be freed from that prison The Prophecy Destroyer set you in all those years ago."
"You must also keep quiet about this!" Pen yelled. "If the boy finds out about this, even with the smallest of detail, our entire plan fails, and he destroys the Shadow."
"Stop being paranoid," Aaron remarked. "I won't spill a word. I'm more concerned about your Shadow friend. He's constantly with the boy! How do we know if they are working together?"
"Shadow will keep up with his end of the deal," Pen said. "He doesn't want to be destroyed anymore than we want our plans being exposed. And he certainly won't team up with the boy."
"What if this doesn't work out?" Aaron questioned. His arms and legs were shaking because of how nervous he was, but tried to stay tough. "I still have my doubts with the Shadow. And the boy can't be this oblivious to what's going on around him, can he?"
The howling of the wind was the only noise that could be heard. A crew of birds were circling around the chamber for some odd reason.
"You will soon be in control of the Shadow," Pen calmed Aaron. "You are the rightful owner of that Shadow."
Both of them were silent. Aaron thought that their conversation was over. But not until he heard Pen whisper one final thing.
"Set me free oh Bloodborne."
