Milhouse sat in silence as he stared again at the rejection letter. He knew the Sheriff hoped his desire to leave was just a passing fancy, but time had the opposite affect. As every year went by, Tom’s wish to be a part if something bigger burned hotter inside him until that was all he could think about. Every time he watched the TV show “Cops” or “The Worlds Most Dangerous Car Chases,” he ached all over.

  Ever since he was a kid, he longed for excitement and intrigue. Each week, he would sit in front of the TV watching “Wild, Wild West”, then he and his friends would act it out. Tom always insisted on being the hero, James West, who would single handedly save the Country from the evil villains bent on destroying it. For now, he signed heavily, that dream would have to wait.
