“I wonder what he’s doing down there?” Chet asked as he peered over Alan’s shoulder.

“I don’t know, but I’m going to find out.”

“What? You said we’d stay here for a while and scope it out!” Chet objected.

“I know, but this could be my only opportunity to get one of them alone.”

“What are you going to do?”

“We are going down to that barn and surprise him. After I have the cuffs on him, I’ll make him tell us how many others there are.”

“I don’t like it, Alan,” Chet said worriedly. “What if there are other people in the barn?”

“Well, we won’t know that until we go down there, will we?” Before Chet could object, Alan quickly turned and slipped past the brush and started moving down the hill.

“Damn it, Alan.” Chet nervously checked his camera then followed Alan down the hill.
