Read Unexpected Page 6

to finish, I turned and rushed off towards the entrance area where I knew she was heading. My brain and imagination was working overtime as it had two years earlier, wondering what I might find. Then reaching the area I just knew there was going to be a problem, because there was not a soul to be seen anywhere in that part of the shop.

I did not bother running through the shop looking for her again. Something in the back of my head was telling me that I would not find her. Therefore I pushed my way past the steady stream of shoppers that where trying to enter the shop, as I wanted to go out into the mall for a further look. For me it became very frustrating, as they did not seem to want to let me through. Then all of a sudden one of the shop workers spotted me trying to get out of the shop and thinking that I was trying to sneak out without paying, started to make his way towards me.

He caught me very easy as I had stopped in my tracks, not being able to see Anne anywhere. I thought it pointless to run around aimlessly, and anyway deep inside I knew that I had left my life forever. I sorted out the problem with the shop worker as I had no items on me, and anyway I was returning to the shop to find Lynn.

By a weird twist of fate, I found her standing by the meat counter, and just as I had expected, there was no sign of Anne. After explaining to Lynn what had happened, we both agreed that it was pointless going to the shop manager and later the police. They would only ridicule us, for us a decision had been made, sparing me the task at a later date. Lynn had been wonderful in her understanding of the situation that we had found ourselves in, and I had loved her dearly for that.

We left the shopping trolley where it was, and made our way out of the super market. Once in the mall the air smelt good, then as I turned towards Lynn and gave her a quick kiss on the lips that lasted only a couple of seconds. Let's get married I asked her as we made our way out in to the street, and to what I hoped would be a new life for us.

Although this was definitely not the end
