  Alison frowned, but then realizing that he was serious, while at the same time also feeling pretty tickled about how they’d come by the information, she said with a wry smile, “You’ll be taking a big chance on his being indulgent, Dick. But I guess it won’t hurt to list Cookie as one of our informants, especially if it will brighten up your day. I just hope for your sake that she doesn’t come out with one of those rude words that you’ve taught her.”

  Dick smiled knowingly, but unapologetically. Then breaking into their conversation, Cookie suddenly said, “Whodunit, whodunit, whodunit. Barlow did it. Barlow did it. That’s bullshit. That’s bullshit. Hello sweetie. Polly wants a biscuit.”

  The three of them laughed together hilariously and then Alison said, “See what I mean, Dick? But Cookie’s quite right about saying the ‘b’ word, because in the end it was actually Felicity Jones, -who really went and dunit.”
