can be closer, even if this doesn’t work.”

“Are you sure? I don’t want to put anyone out.”

“It’d probably be nice for Martha to have someone around the house again, since her husband passed away she doesn’t get out much.”

“I’ll call Aunt Lynda now, and let her know what is going on and see what she thinks.”

Within two weeks, Lynda and William had arrived. U-haul in tow. It was like a family reunion. Rachel was in tears she was so happy to be holding her son again. Introductions where made and then everyone went out to the diner for a bit to eat.

  “How was the trip up?”

“Non-eventful, which is great when traveling with a toddler.” Lynda smiled and wiped a bit of ice cream from William’s face.

“No problem with the apartment?” Harry asked.

“Not a bit, I was in a sublease from a dear friend of mine, so moving out was no problem, only stipulation was that I call her at least once a week, and come back to visit her once a month.”

“Well that is just splendid. Perhaps we will all just make it a family affair to make a trip into the city.” Martha really liked Lynda, and was thrilled to have her and William staying in the big lonely house with her. Now maybe the days would not seem so empty.

The next two weeks it was like a normal family that had been united. Everyone either helped on the additions to the cottage, cooked, or took turns looking after William. Finally, the new moon was to rise that night. After the barbeque William, Lynda, and Martha returned to the mainland for the night, as was usual.

“I want to be locked in my cell, just in case this didn’t work.” Jamie said as they put away the last of the dishes. They went downstairs, Jamie locked Rachel, while Belinda locked down Harry. “If this work, we will do Harry tonight, and you tomorrow night.” Jamie leaned forward and kissed Rachel, got up and went to his cell.

The moon slipped into its proper phase, Rachel and Harry began changing, Belinda watched Jamie who did not change. Swiftly she hammered the iron nails into Harry’s hands. Harry writhed in agony and howled, but did not complete his change. Jamie looked on in horror and disbelief, and was relieved, that it was in fact a cure. As soon as the nails were in Harry’s hands Belinda, unlocked Jamie, and had him help her get Harry to bed where they removed the nails, bandaged his hands, and had him take a sip of water with a pain killer.

“It really is the cure...” Jamie sighed to his grandmother as he hugged her, and ran back down to be with Rachel. He slept with her that night, knowing that tomorrow, she would finally be freed from the curse that his own cousin had forced upon her, and that she would stay with him... his own normal family.
