"Morning." Buurn put the empty water jug back on the side table. "You slept well?" she asked candidly.
Regis swung his feet from the now wet bed. He grabbed the towel Buurn offered him and dried his face.
"Now that you’re washed we can go." She looked him up and down, a rueful smile playing at the corners of her mouth, "Once you’re dressed."
She left the room leaving Regis to his embarrassment.
Regis wandered wearily into the bar to find a plate of food waiting for him together with a mug of something hot.
"Drink this, it will invigorate you." Buurn walked over to a table and sat down. "Can you open portals?" She turned to face Regis as he took up the seat opposite her.
"Yes I can, why?" Regis picked up the hot beverage, sniffing it warily. He inclined his head to peer into the cup. "What is it?" He looked at Buurn, holding the cup to his lips. "We should take a portal ring with us,” she replied, “it will save a long walk home."
She took the cup from Regis and took a generous sip from it. "It is extracted from a plant that grows only in the Delvings. High elves use it when they are meditating for long periods as it removes the need for food for many days. Darkling youths drink it for... fun." She passed the cup back to Regis.
"You sound as though you do not think we will find Dekor." Shuddering, Regis placed the cup back on the table.
"There was an unusual mist this morning. The whole country was covered in it. I saw it roll down the mountains like it was alive. I was unable to track anything through it. I had followed Dekor's trail as far the mountains, due east of here; he was heading north, but his trail ended abruptly." Buurn watched Regis wipe his plate with a piece of bread then shove it into his mouth, poking the last of it in with his finger.
"Sorry, but that," he pointed at the empty plate, "was terrific." Stifling a belch as he rose from his seat he asked, "shall we go?"
Regis held the door open for Buurn as they stepped out into the bustling street. They strolled over to the barracks and collected a bronze portal ring then they headed out toward the mountains.
