PRE-ORDER BETWEEN HEAVEN & HELL: A ONE LIFE TO LIVE TRIBUTE
Hi, loyal soaper!
UNCENSORED QUOTES OF THE WEEK:
"It was a big whole mess, or it was.”
––AMC’s Jill Larson relives the Prospect Park mess in SOAP OPERA DIGEST
Translation: The Chicken Shack was run better.
“Pay no money up front, or $50 an episode.”
—Jill Larson on what Prospect Park was willing to pay actors in DIGEST
Translation: I could make more at Burger King.
“Katie and I are thrilled to share these updates with our partners and Katie’s fans. We now have our studio, a great-looking logo that exudes all of the qualities that we want the show to convey, and a terrific team with a diverse background of experience. We couldn’t be more excited about September 10. It's going to be a lot of fun."
—KATIE executive producer Jeff Zucker in an ABC press release
Translation: No one’s going to watch our show!
‘Hopefully, if the networks put on enough of those crappy talk programs, and people realize, ‘Hey, this is shit. I’m not going to watch this. I want to go back to soap operas.’”
—Perennial GH guest star Rick Springfield in DIGEST
Translation: But I’ll promote my book on them until that day comes.
“Losing Jill [Farren Phelps] was a big deal because Jill, for me, was not only a great producer but she was also seriously a great friend and a mother figure to me. I could always go to her when I had problems. She could be a psychiatrist. I’m dead serious on that.”
—Maurice Benard in SOAP OPERA DIGEST
Translation: Producing GH was her part-time job.
“Garin [Wolf’s] first month and last month, it was fantastic. Between that, for me, I wasn’t really doing a whole lot. I wasn’t too happy because there was nothing for me to act, but this month is on fire. Frank [Valentini] and Ron [Carlivati] are reworking things and it’s amazing.”
—Benard compares former head writer Garin Wolf and new scribe Ron Carlivati in DIGEST
Translation: It’s like going from kissing Snooki to making out with Angelina Jolie.
“What Megan [Ward] did with it was fantastic. She was great in what she did, but this is a reinvented character. You have to see it was that and nothing else, but I tell you what, the story coming up? Oh, man. All I can say is there’s something that comes up that blows everything wide open. I’ve got to tell you, with somebody who can deliver like Kelly [Sullivan] delivers, it’d be a shame if she wouldn’t be the one [to play out the story].”
—Benard tackles the controversial Kate recast
Translation: It’s a shame Megan Ward isn’t here to reinvent the character she created.
THE OTALIA REPORT
INSIDE LECCIAPALOOZA
By Brittany Stotts
Sweet spirit. Gentle soul. What more can you say about the beautiful and talented Jessica Leccia? Oh, and did I mention her dimples? I had the privilege of attending what most of us call "Lecciapalooza" this year in NYC on March 10th!
Fans gathered in the basement at Brother Jimmy's where Leccia's hunky husband, Brian, welcomed fans for a weekend of boozing and schmoozing! The event raised money for The Hispanic Creative Group. For three precious hours, fans got to visit with Leccia, while indulging in delicious finger foods and wonderful sangria!
This year, Jeryl kicked off the event by playing some of her latest music. Jeryl is known for her music in previous seasons of VENICE: THE SERIES.
A brief Q&A session soon took place where Jessica was asked everything from: "Who would your dream role be with?" to "Who’s the better kisser: Crystal Chappell or Nadia Bjorlin?” Leccia replied, "Sir Anthony Hopkins, as his beautiful Spanish Princess" and "Crystal and Nadia are both great but different kissers.”
Jessica shared with us that in her spare time she loves to read, she loves Twitter — but it makes her a sweaty nervous mess and she will try to get better at it — and her daughter is her whole world!
In a nutshell the weekend was great, the event a success and as always Jessica was delightful and so grateful for each person that came out to show her some love and support!
