“We don’t always know all the reasons why, but a few things I do know, that you would have insisted that we come to you in hell, instead of you coming here.”
“It sounds like a crazy idea right now, but a few hours ago yeah, I probably would have done that.”
“I think more importantly though, is that no one knows you as well as he knows you, he felt every pain, sadness and fear that you ever felt. He loves you more purely and deeply than we can. I wish it weren’t so, but my love, and your grandpa’s also, still have a bit of bias in them.”
“I really am going to have to thank him for coming for me.”
“He’s not hard to find,” Grandpa said with a laugh.
“So what now?” I asked.
“I think there’s a few more people you need to meet,” Grandma said with a wink.
Chapter 10
Ending up fairly far from the gate, meeting and seeing everyone, I hadn’t notice a large crowd gathering at the gate.
“I think you should be over there,” Grandpa said pointing not so much toward the gate, but where Christ was standing waiting.
“You don’t mean…”
“Yes,” Grandpa said gesturing over towards Christ again.
I looked and Christ beckoned me over. I walked over to Christ and he beckoned me even closer. I stood by his side and he put his right arm around me. Then he said pointing with his other hand at Neil as he came through the gate, “Isn’t it beautiful?”
It was beautiful, he was beautiful. He didn’t look anything like I had just seen him outside the wall. He seemed to shine. He radiated happiness and love.
My heart felt more full with every step closer he took. I thought my heart exploded with joy, when I saw the happiness and love in his eyes, when he looked up and saw the Savior who unlike me, he hadn’t seen before he entered.
My old friend who had greeted me earlier came to my side and put his arm around me, and we both enjoyed the beauty of his welcoming.
When we all got quiet and Christ presented Neil to all of heaven, I felt like I had always been there, and I welcomed him home as well.
