Chapter 10 A Time to Kill

At that moment Shoab toggled off his communication. Shoab filled with anger sent the experience to Michael, Mosh, and Cynda "We don't have any more time, we must attack now!"

Michael "Our forces in the south are ready. My men have located Jeth's headquarters."

Mosh paused for a second "Sound the alarm and notify the southern continent to attack!"

Michael sent out the signal to the southern continent "A great horn sounded hastening the army of inhabitants to their warships. The inhabitant king of the southern headquarters and his men raced into the caves to ascend with their warships. As Shoab's fighter ship began to ascend he could see thousands of warships beginning to rise with him over the horizon. They filled the sky picking up speed as they swarmed east. Jeth's forward observers identified the swarm and sounded the alarm. Jeth's entire army began to ascend in a swarm of fighter ships.

Jeth smiled as he ascended with his army. "Kill off everyone." Michael's army now at full speed as Jeth's army came within sight. A moment later the two swarms collided setting off a battery of explosions. Jeth toggled on his communication showing Shoab his location "Welcome back!" Shoab did a nose dive firing on Jeth's position. Jeth swiftly maneuvered toward Shoab as if to hit him head on. Shoab rolled to the right narrowly missing Jeth's ship. Jeth laughing "Your first time in a warship big guy? Surrender and I won't kill all of you!"

Jeth quickly turned placing Shoab's ship in his sites. Shoab looked out across the sky. Michael's army of inhabitants were no match for Jeth's army as they were shooting the inhabitants down in large numbers. The blaring noise of alarms sounded, warning Shoab that he was locked in Jeth's sights. Jeth pressed his thumb on the trigger firing at Shoab exploding his ship in all directions. Shoab managed to eject from the fighter ship right before impact, knocking him unconscious. Jeth watch as Shoab drifted down to the edge of a large volcanic crater. Jeth flew toward were Shoab landed. He wanted to make sure he finished the job.

As Jeth's ship landed Shoab was regaining consciousness. Jeth stepped out of his ship making eye contact with Shoab as he laid on the ground gasping for air. Jeth walking toward Shoab. The pitch fork end of his shoulder cannon beginning to spin building up power for the final kill shot.

Jeth stared at Shoab's bloody face through the cannon sights. He began to laugh, pulling the sights away for a brief moment "Look at you, pitiful from day one." Just then an enormous horn was heard from the sky. It was another transport ship from their home planet. Swarms of arch fighter ships began to swarm from the ship attacking Jeth's army.

Jeth quickly put Shoab back in his sights "I'll tell Julie you said hi." The spinning pitch fork of Lisa's shoulder cannon gave way to a large cracking bolt of energy passing over Shoab's head hitting Jeth in the chest. Jeth's body violently thrown up and into the air over the edge of the canyon. As he was falling into the depth's of the large volcanic crater he caught Lisa's eyes with disbelief of her betrayal.

Shoab now at his feet raced over to the edge watching Jeth's body fall into the large lake of fire. Shoab looking at Lisa in disbelief "Why did you help me?"

Lisa with disgrace "I couldn't live with myself anymore. I couldn't accept the horror Jeth imposed on this planet. I never intended this to happen."

Shoab and Lisa looked up, the reinforcements from their home planet was finishing off the remainder of Jeth's forces. A fighter ship from the reinforcements landed close to Lisa and Shoab. The doors opened and a man stepped out proceeding to walk toward them. Shoab finally realized it was General Milson. As he walked closer General Milson smiled reaching out to shake their hands

"I'm glad to see you both made it out alive."

Shoab spoke up "General Milson, Lisa is the one to thank. If it wasn't for her communicating back for reinforcements. A lot of people would have died."

Lisa with a confused look on her face "Shoab I didn't send any communication back to our planet. Jeth destroyed all the communication equipment once we established our base."

Shoab and Lisa looked back at General Milson as he began to smile "It was the ghost crystal. We were a year out from finishing a second one at the power plant when the first one exploded. The voices told us what was happening. Only a handful of people are privy to that information. Come on its time to go home."

Shoab and Lisa boarded the fighter ship. As they ascended to the transport ship Shoab looked across the landscape of burning carnage feeling great sorrow for the inhabitants that gave their lives to fight Jeth's army. As the fighter ship docked in the transport ship a sense of relief came over Shoab as he realized he was finally going home.

Chapter 11 The Way We Were

During the trip home General Milson instructed them to keep the mission a secret. Their cover story was they successfully redirected the course of a comet that would have ended the planet. As the transport ship landed Shoab could see large crowd gathered near the launch pad. As the door of the ship opened slowly Shoab could hear the crowd cheering. As they emerged from the ship he was blinded by the bright sunlight. Large holograms were congratulating the crew's successful mission. Shoab saw Julie and the kids in the distance waving and clapping to get his attention. They ran to each other. Tears running down Shoab's face as his family embraced.

Julie's head buried against Shoab's chest "I missed you so much." Filled with emotion Shoab couldn't speak, he just stood there holding his family close.

After a few moments he finally composed himself "I missed you too." Smiling down at his kids Shoab said "Who wants some ice cream!?" The kids erupted with cheer. With tears of joy, Julie and Shoab looked at each other laughing, thankful their family was finally back together.
