Read Down on the Bayou Page 3

  Part 3

Still Tuesday but just 5 minutes later

So I knock on the door. Leah opens it. It was all over. I’m dead.

“Oh, hi, um, Taylor’s in her bedroom…um…if you were…um…wondering.” Leah stammers. I don’t know why she’s always like that.

“Well, Leah, you’re the girl I want to talk to” I reply.

She looks shocked. “Oh…um…. Ok…. I guess….. Do you want to sit down?” She points to the couch and pulls back her long, sleek, blonde hair.

“Is Taylor always this mean?! I mean, I just can’t take it anymore!” I put my hand on my head.

Leah bursts out into tears. “I-I-I-I have a-a-a-a- confession to-o-o-o-o-o make.”

“Oh, you can tell me anything, Leah! You’re nice to me! You can trust me!” I try to calm her down.

She made sure Taylor wasn’t around. “I’m not one of them!” she said under her breath.

  “What? What-what does that mean?”

“Back i-i-i-in fairy school, she was the kindest girl around. So were Arlene and Britany. Something happened one day, they …um …Just turned bad, I guess! They turned into bad fairies! Since I was friends with them then, they forced me to be bad too, and I didn’t want to! And now they expect me to be as mean as them, so I play along sometimes, or else they hurt me. Please, you have to help me! They didn’t give you powers! They just cursed you! I just broke the curse, so please don’t tell them either!”

Hearing the curse part, I stood in shock. “You know what? I’m going to do something about it. And one more question: Aren’t good fairies small?” I asked.

“Well, they made me big to fit in with them.” She shrunk herself.

  “You look good!” I reply.

  “Thanks!”

She fluttered and I walked across the cabin all the way to Taylor’s room.

I burst open the door. She gasps at the sight of Leah as a good fairy.

  “What-what? How-how did uhhhh…….What’s going on?!”

The jig’s up, Taylor. And that’s exactly what I told her.

“Your secret isn’t safe anymore.” I smirk.

  After an hour of yelling…………

WHAT DID I JUST GET MYSELF INTO!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Getting in a fight with a FAIRY is the STUPIDEST thing POSSIBLE!!!!!!!! She is ABOUT to KILL ME!!!!!!!!!!

You’re probably asking, “What happened? What did Taylor do? Where are you? What’s about to happen?”

I can answer a few of those. 1. What happened? After I barged in and screamed at her, she got MAD. She started screaming, and says she will kill me if I did anything about it. And of course, me and Leah said that if she continued to be bad, we’d bring her to a museum.

  2. What did Taylor do? Trapped me and Leah in a lightning bubble and dragged us way out to the lake for a battle.

  3. Where are you? I’m somewhere on the other side of the lake where no one lives nor has a camp.

  4. What’s about to happen? I’m about to call up Tina and my super-powered friends to come and save me!

Maybe I shouldn’t call Emma, though. Although her fire powers would come in handy, it’s her fault this happened anyway. If she wouldn’t have chased the book and the fairies, we wouldn’t even be in this mess. Oh, what the heck. If she started the trouble, she’s going to fix it.

I have a feeling this isn’t going to end well.

Taylor walks up to the bubble and makes a hole in it. She hands me her cell phone. “You can make one call, maybe save yourself. But no one’s going to believe you. Before you met us, I bet even YOU didn’t believe in fairies!

I dial the number. She had no idea what she was in for. I called Tina. When Taylor left, I said, “Hey Tina, I need your help. I didn’t believe you were a good fairy because Taylor had cursed me! So can you call my friends? Taylor’s about to get me because I knew she is a dark fairy!”

She replied, “Of course! I knew you’d come to your senses! I’ve been waiting for you to say this since I met you! I’ll call ‘em up right now!”

Sooner or later, Taylor came back and took the phone. “Didn’t believe you, did they?” She smirked.

“Nope. Not at all.” I tried to hide the lying expression on my face.

  “Who’d you call?”

I wasn’t prepared for follow-up questions! “Uh……. My mom? Then Tina and them showed up.

“This just got a whole lot harder…………” Taylor said as she saw Leah burst out of the bubble and join them. I stayed on the ground. (It stinks, I know.)

  After a brief battle………

This seems so unreal. Long story short, um…… I don’t know how to put it. I guess I’ll make it a long story period.

Ok, so Tina traps Taylor, Leah blinds her with sunlight; Emma catches her on fire without her being able to see.

Elsa blinds Britany, Candy stuffs her mouth with candy, while Britany tries to spit it out, Andy traps her in a water ball.

Arlene gets different treatment. Violet makes her see random colors. While trying to understand if she was going crazy or not, Hailey wraps her in fabric, and she falls into the water.

May and Sara wrap it up. May uses vines and Sara uses ice to trap them all in one ball, and slam them onto the ground.

After everything was finished, Leah and Tina said, “I don’t like this fairy thing. Let’s all get rid of powers and just be normal.”

They both took away everyone’s magic, including theirs, before anyone could say anything about it.

“Well, now everything is normal!” Emma says.

“It was fun though.” Andy replies.

I walk off, realizing that my entire birthday had been ruined. I mean, what’s the point of having a birthday party when you’re just going to get tortured? Even my friends had a lot better time than me. I mean, they got super powers, and I got cursed. They get to celebrate, even Emma who started it all, and I’m the one feeling the shame because I was so gullible.

Then Leah as a completely normal, powerless girl came to my side. “You know, if it wasn’t for you, I would have never gotten away from them!”

My friends noticed her and Elsa said, “If it wasn’t for you, we would never have realized how awesome you are!” She used jazz hands.

  “Yeah, I guess you’re right.” I sighed.

Leah just jumps in and gives me a hugs. “Thanks, Ashley!” My other friends joined in for a group hug.

“I love you guys!” I reply. Tina comes and jumps on top of us. We all laugh.

Then, the ice and vine ball starts to twitch. Britany and Arlene pop out, as if nothing had happened.

  “Uh, Oh!” I gasp.

  Then Taylor pops out.

  Tuesday June 10

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Taylor’s going to get me!” My eyes pop open, then I realize it was all a dream!

My mom looks at me like I’m crazy, and we drive into the Toledo Bend driveway. “Sorry. Nightmares!”

“Leah, you’ve gotta stop reading those fairy books at night!” My mom replies.

“I had the Taylor and Ashley dream again.”

“Let me guess. You were the good guy in the dream again.”

“Yes, of course! Am I ever not?”

  We both laugh!

We walk into the house, and start setting up party decorations.
