Scripture Memorization
When we receive the Word of God we receive Jesus, and Jesus not only saves but offers us eternal life — for you are saved by faith and faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Now ask yourself this question, just how important is it for me to take the time to memorize God's word? Most people want to memorize God's word, but often fail as the result of lack of a plan. In addition to using this section, you may want to visit your local Christian bookstore, for many sell scripture memorization cards, or you can highlight the verses that stand out while you're reading your bible.
The following was provided as an attempt to provide a plan/structure for Scripture memory.
Develop and follow a plan - Set a goal to memorize a certain number of verses a week, month, or year.
Start small - Memorize shorter verses initially, then add longer verses. Memorizing the shorter verses will give you confidence to tackle the longer ones.
Memorize verses especially meaningful to you.
You will find it easier to memorize Scripture that has some personal relevance.
You will then find that the spirit well begin to make the words of life come alive that you have hidden in your heart. Remember what eating is, for even if it's a little tough for you to swallow you must continually chew until you get its fruit (The Words of Life) inside of you.
Take Action. The following scriptures are provided for those that have made a commitment to memorize the word of God. (They may also be used for reference.)
