You will need to click the Install Plugin link below the name of the plug-in that you want to install on the results page. Once you have clicked the install link you will see the screen pictured below. Make sure you click Activate Plugin or your new feature will be installed but not active.
As you would imagine, I have installed pretty much all of my favorite plug-ins to the site already. Some of the plug-ins might need to be widgets, others might just add the ability to use raw HTML or PHP code anywhere on the site, including on pages or in posts.
What the heck is a Widget you ask? Well a widget is very simple to use and adds quite a bit to the overall look and function of your web site. I will demonstrate on them on the section after I teach you a little about themes.
Themes
Themes work just like most anything else in Wordpress, very easily on the administrator level. To change a theme you will need to click on Appearance to the left of the screen in the dashboard and you will see Themes on the top of the list that drops down. You guessed right, go on and click Themes and you will see this screen. Your screen will look a little bit different, I have already installed the Evolve theme on NoobsGuides.
To install a new theme, you will just click the Install Themes tab above the image of the active theme and come to this screen below.
This screen has the search bar and a list of Tags that the themes are tagged with. For example there are colors, 1 column, 2 column and more. Think of the columns as basically how many sidebars the theme has.
Search for a theme you might like, for example I’m using the Evolve theme so search for Evolve. Of course you can look for anything you’d like, if you don’t find what you want you can always search Google.
If you search for Evolve you will find this screen.
Click Install, then click Activate. Now if you browse to your URL or your .com you will find that you now have a very different page that looks similar to mine.
This particular theme has options to change the colors and layout a bit farther than most. You can look in the dashboard under Appearance to see Evolve Settings. This will bring up the screen pictured below so you can change almost anything about the theme.
