Pote dove between me and the incoming blade without a second thought. The blade pierced his neck and he turned to stone almost instantly. Klid angrily yanked the sword out of Pote’s neck and my loyal friends corpse shattered to dust. I quickly stood up and brought my sword down at Klid, who was barely able to bring up his blade to deflect the attack.
I now swung at Klid strategically, trying to disarm him. I could feel my rage surfacing, and it fueled my attacks. After a few minutes of our sword battle I jumped backwards, making a huge gap between Klid and I. I quickly formed a ball of ice and launched it at Klid. Klid swiped his arms to the right, and his telekinesis moved the ice away from him.
This was my moment, I quickly ran forward and strongly swung at Klid. Klid brought up his sword to block my blow, but was disarmed in the process. His sword’s blade sunk back into the rod and it clattered to the ground.
“Looks like you have me,” Klid said, defeated. I readied myself to kill the traitor and focus my attention on the battle outside of the castle.
I started to bring my sword down on Klid when he pushed both of his palms forward. His telekinesis hit me hard, and I flew through the throne room doors and down the stairs. When I finally stopped moving at the bottom of the stairs, I got to my feet.
“Trene! Are you okay?” Linet’s voice asked me. I turned and saw her running towards me, two soldiers around her.
I turned to look at the top of the steps and I saw Klid walk out of the throne room. I formed a ball of ice and launched it at him. He moved out of the way and jumped down the stairs. He was pushed into the wall and he crumpled to the ground.
“I told you he would betray us!” Linet yelled at me. I turned towards her and saw the two soldiers readying their weapons.
“Linet, watch out!” I shouted and pushed both soldiers with my telekinesis.
Linet pulled out a rod from her sleeve and summoned the blade. With three swift movements, both of the traitor soldiers were stone statues. I turned back to Klid, but he was gone. “He’s gone, we must go!” Linet shouted to me.
I nodded and we ran, hand in hand through the halls of the castle. My soldiers were fighting each other. I then saw two very familiar faces in the middle of a fight. Elias Mark, Pote’s son, was fighting alongside of Zion Kilimi. They were battling six traitors. Elias swung with his sword and attacked with his transformation of wind. Zion swung with his one handed axe and his one handed war hammer.
I jumped into the fight, turning one traitor to stone while the others perished at the hands of Elias and Zion. “Much thanks, my lord,” Elias said, bowing to me.
“It’s no problem,” I told him and Zion quickly glanced out of the window.
“It looks as though the enemy was broken through the wall and advancing towards the castle at an alarming rate. Our troops are fighting but it is no use. We’re outnumbered,” Zion reported to me. Zion was a larger man, he was muscular but he looked fat. Zion had a great beard that most men would be jealous of.
“Send out the grunks,” I said, and Linet gasped. Zion closed his eyes and Elias ran to tell the order.
“They’ll lose themselves in the blood and kill anything that moves!” Zion yelled at me.
“What other choice do we have? I will not surrender this castle,” I told Zion who gave me a look of sadness.
“You may have to my lord,” Zion told me and I shook my head, denying the possibility.
Elias ran back down the hall and before he could speak I heard the unmistakable cry of the grunks. I looked out the window and saw the huge black beasts fly though the sky, attacking deep in the enemy lines.
“Where’s Lukus?” Linet asked me, worried for her son.
“He’s down by the ocean. It’s safer for him there,” I told her and she slapped me.
“He must be terrified,” Linet told me and started towards the stables.
I ran after her and Zion stopped Elias before he could follow. “I need you to get Kaila from the basement. I stuck her down there to be safe. The Swanns’ are looking after her. Take them with you, you need to get the king and queen to Sow,” Zion ordered to Elias.
“What about you?” Elias asked Zion quickly.
“I’ll stay and lead the army. If we win, you will hear it. If we lose, you will see some of the army in Sow,” Zion said, and then pushed Elias towards the basement of the castle.
I chased Linet through the halls of the castle. I caught up with her when she stopped. “What’s wrong?” I asked her questionably. She just pointed ahead and I saw a dozen soldiers, weapons ready facing us.
I quickly whipped a stream of water at the soldiers and grabbed Linet. I sprinted to my left, down a corridor then turned right. We ran until we saw another exit out of the castle. I shoved the doors open with my telekinesis. We passed the doors and into the grass.
A frup ran at us and slowed down. There was a friendly soldier on it. He got off and pointed to the left. “Make your way for Sow,” he told as Linet and I climbed onto the beast.
“Thank you,” I told him, climbing onto the beast as well. The frup took off; towards Sow. I turned the steed around and towards where Lukus was.
I looked to see where the soldier went. He was in combat with the traitors who had chased us. He was turned to stone, and I turned my head away. I slowed our ride down as it approached the area where our son was. “Lukus!” I shouted, and a small head popped out of the grass. Tears were streaming down his face in fear. Linet jumped off the frup and picked up our son. She got back on the steed and we made our way towards Sow.
Two other frups joined us in our journey away from the castle. One was being ridden by Elias and Kaila Kilimi. The other frup was carrying the Swann family. “Where is Zion?” I yelled over to Elias.
“He told me that he was going to lead the army,” Elias yelled back to me.
Our frups went from a run to a walking pace. Lukus had fallen asleep on the ride and was being held by Linet. The Swanns looked tired as well. They had their daughter; she was a little older than Lukus. Kaila was about a year older than both of the children.
“I believe the Swann daughter is going to be a prophet. That’s why they were in the castle,” Linet whispered to me. I looked at the little girl sleeping in her father’s arms. She looked peaceful and calm.
“Are you sure?” I asked her quietly. It isn’t that I didn’t believe Linet, it is just distinguishing a prophet is very hard at a young age.
“Almost completely sure,” Linet told me, and then she kissed my cheek.
I looked to the nature of the planet to calm me. I was extremely upset by the events that unfolded. The tree branches swayed in the light breeze. The mountains had clouds around their peaks, making it impossible to see the tops. The sun reflected off of the ocean and sent shimmers into my eyes.
