Read Secret Admirer: Chapter 2 Page 2

Mia to tell her we're on our way.” Her neon blue Coogi wrap dress was paired with her sliver Zynga heels. She also had her necklace/bracelet pair I brought her last year for Christmas.

“You look great, Mama! And you smell good too.” Beyonce's scent Heat filled my nose. “And can you please take a pic of me so I can send it to Mia?” I handed her my phone. “I put the camera up already.” I backed up into the hallway and posed a bit like Nicki Minaj would. She snapped the pic, muttering under her breath, “Diva.”

“I know I am, Mama. Don't be hating on me,” I said, laughing. I sent the picture to Mia, along with: “We're on our way, be there in 5 min.” The ride to my house and hers was super short.

“Okay, let's go! I'm not waiting!” Mama carefully stepped down the stairs, and I replied, “I have to grab a few things.” I went in the bathroom first, making sure the crimping iron was unplugged. I went into my room and picked up my purse, wallet, keys, and makeup ( I forgot to put it on). I looked in my purse to make sure I had my invitation. Tiptoeing down the stairs, I asked Mama, “Do I have to grab my shawl for later?”

“No, I don't think so. It's pretty warm today, about 75 degrees right now, so it should be warm later on tonight. Now c'mon, we need to go.” She opened the front door and made a big gesture out the door. I lifted my mini hat off of my head to thank her, quite like an old man. She laughed and playfully pushed me outside to a bright sun. She unlocked her huge Lincoln Navigator for me to hop in and put my seatbelt on. I rolled down the window and let the breeze flow through my hair.

The ride to Mia's house gave me a few silent minutes to think about Kaire. He was so sexy! I never had a dream about a guy before. He's just amazing, the way he's not afraid to be himself, whether people like it or not. I remember the day I started to like him, after we kissed while playing truth or dare. He picked a card that said, “Kiss the girl that appeals to you the most.” It was nothing, just a three-second kiss, but to this day, I remember his breath smelled like oranges, and the way he blushed afterwards. I felt like I was on cloud nine, because there were two other girls there with us (which, in my opinion, were way prettier and popular than me). But, he chose me. He made me feel so special.

“Oh my gosh, Adri! You look adorable!” Mia's screaming interrupted my thoughts. She ran off of her front porch, got in the truckand said, “Sorry. I'm just really excited.” She gave me a high-five. “Here, Ms. D, I told you I would pay.”

Mama took the crumpled $10. “Thanks. I'm more surprised on the fact you were on time.”

“Well, you know how it is.” Mia looked at me and winked. I know what she meant. She wanted to see Kaire's reaction when he saw me in my outfit. She texted me, “Hey Mrs. Morrison, ready to make a kid tonite? ;)”

“Mia! Stop that! I'm not doing anything tonight.”

“U need to tell him sooner or later”

“I will, maybe tonight will be the night. I'm nervous.”

“OMG u say that all the time! I think he likes u to b honest”

“Mia, I'm telling you, if Kai likes me the way I like him, I would die and go to heaven.” A few minutes later she kicked my seat. I turned around and asked, “What?”

“You didn't text me back,” she whispered. Who did I send that message to then? I checked my phone, and saw who I sent it to.

OH. MY. GOD. I just sent it to.... Kaire. My hands started to sweat, and I leaned towards the window, trying to catch some air. Oh, no. What am I going to do?

Mama suddenly sacred me when she said, “Adri, give me your invite. You too, Mia.” We handed them to her, and the guard opened the gate to let us in. My stomach flipped with every single second we inched up the hill to the parking lot. I hope to God he's not there yet.

When we finally reached the lot, it was half full, so it was easy for Mama to find a place to park. As soon as she turned the truck off, I got out, grabbed Mia's hand, and ran to the nearest bathroom. I made sure no one else was in there, then locked her door and put my back against the wall. I closed my eyes and smacked my forehead.

“What is wrong with you? And why didn't you text me back?” Mia pulled down her skintight pink Kim Kardashian dress.

“I thought I sent a message to you, but I accidentally sent it to Kaire!” My words came out rushed and nervous. “Here, look!” I tossed her my phone, and she caught it and read it. She look at me with wide, excited eyes.

“The stars are telling you to be with him, girl. There's no other way I can explain it.” She smiled wide, like the Cheshire Cat. “You like him, and he likes you.”

“I don't know if he really likes me as more than a friend. I can't tell him either, I don't want to mess up our relationship.” I looked in the mirror at myself, with Mia standing behind me.

She grabbed my shoulders, turned me around, and looked straight in my eyes. “You will tell him. You have to. I'll be right there, I promise. With you dressed up like this, there's no way he can resist you.” She let me go, and all I could do was give a tiny nod. I'm not going to tell him though.

A knock on the door made me jump. “Hello? Is anyone in here?”

“Be right out,” I answered. Mia went into a stall and said, “Go ahead. I'll be out.”

I slowly unlocked the door and opened it to find an older woman standing there. “Excuse me,” I said, making my way past her. Walking towards the drink bar, I noticed a friend of Kaire's. I think he noticed me too, because he came towards me.

“Hey, Adriana. That is your name, right?” He looked a little puzzled.

“Yeah. You're Trey, captain of the football team. I don't think we've really met. Nice to meet you.” I stuck out my hand.

“Nice to meet you too.” He shook my hand lightly. We stood there for a few awkward minutes, staring at each other like idiots, until he turned and said, “Kaire is here.”

I froze and slowly turned to where he was looking. Sure enough Kaire was walking towards me, like the Prince Charming he is. My dream is coming true...
