“ They are at eighty-five percent and holding Captain.”

Suddenly the alien appeared once more. “ Firing at us is futile Captain we never lose a fight, soon we will take your ship and all the survivors will be sold as slaves. You thought you were clever to disrupt our plans and now we will make you pay. I intend to kill you personally Captain.”

The Captain turned to Mr. Sook. “ Is there any thing else we can get on this screen, I’m bored with this program.”

The alien heard this and yelled. “ Blow their ship to hell, I don’t care who survives.”

  The screen went blank.

“ Mr. Follicle what have we fired at them so far?”

“ We have mostly given them phaser bursts, and we have not done any damage.”

“ Alright then, I think it’s time to give them the big guns. I want a spread of photon torpedoes and I don’t care if we destroy them, nobody is going to take this crew as slaves.” He looked over at Beani-Poohs who gave him a smile of approval.

A few seconds later Ensign Follicle fired upon them and moments after that they watched the ship blow to pieces.

The alien ship was still sitting in front of the wormhole. So when the ship exploded the wormhole became affected and immediately closed.

The Captain sat down relieved. “ I’m certainly glad that is over, I’m sorry we had to destroy them but we really had no choice.”

Kazzie-Spockers gave the Captain a disapproving look and he remembered she intended to report him to Star Fleet.

“ Well now that the fight is over let’s go home,” the Captain said, “ let’s make our way through the wormhole. Let’s make it happen Ensign Lid-Lidia.”

The ship propelled its way forward towards the wormhole but on arrival nothing happened.

“ Ensign Lid-Lidia, why haven’t we gone through the wormhole?”

“ It doesn’t appear to be here Sir.”

“ Mr. Sook perhaps you can take a look at this.”

“ The Ensign is correct Captain, the wormhole is not here.”

“ That’s absurd, we all saw it just a few minutes ago.”

“ It is not absurd sir,” said Mr. Base, “ the blast from the alien ship has caused the wormhole to close up. Perhaps it was also destroyed.”

The Captain thought he would take a different tack. “ Mr. Sook, according to your instruments how far are we from the Alpha quadrant?” The Captain was now looking very concerned.

“ We are approximately ten thousand light years from the Alpha quadrant.”

“ How long would it take at maximum warp?”

Mr. Sook did some quick calculations. “ If we were able to maintain Warp factor twelve which is unlikely it would take almost eight years.”

The Captain sat back in his chair staring at the screen. “ Eight years at warp twelve? It looks like its time for us to rethink our options…”
