mate!” Ariel fires the trident and Morgona screams.
“No!” She turns to dust. Ariel turns to Melody.
“You ok?”
“Yeah.”
“Good.” Melody looks up at Ariel.
“Mom, I still have a tail.”
“What?” She looks down at Melody. “Oh right.” She turns Melody back. “Thanks.” Melody stands up. “Dad!” They both run over to Eric.
Ariel and Melody Manage to get Eric back to the main chamber. Melody gives Triton the trident. “Thank you Melody.” He turns and swims off. Flounder and Sebastian follow him. Ariel lays Eric down. “Eric?” She hugs him. “Melody?” Someone comes up behind her, they put their hand over her mouth and drag her away. Ariel turns around. “Melody?”
In a small chamber a man throws Melody up against the wall. “Who are you?”
“Richard’s guardian. Do you know much pain you put it through?”
“I had no idea he even existed!”
“Well you do now! It’s a pity really, I’m going to kill you so that your family can feel our pain.” He produces a knife. As he throws it Rick shouts. “Fergus no!” He jumps in front of Melody and the dagger stabs him in the chest. He lands on Melody. “Rick, no!”
“Are you ok?”
“Why did you do that?”
“I did it to save you.”
“Why?”
“I love you Melody...” His voice trails off as he dies. Melody looks up at Fergus. “You killed him!”
“He killed himself.”
“No, you killed him because he loved me. How could you?” Fergus runs off and Melody stands up to run after him but then she remembers Eric and she runs back to the main chamber.
“Mom!”
“Mel, are you ok?”
“Yeah, I’m fine.” A tear rolls down her face.
“Mel, what happened?”
“Rick’s dead mom, he saved me from his father.”
“Oh, Melody I’m sorry.”
“It’s ok. How’s dad doing?”
“Not very good.”
“Why?”
“He hasn’t moved yet.”
“Oh, we need to get him home.”
“I think you’re right.”
“Come on.” Melody starts to pull Eric towards the water.
“Melody what are you doing?”
“It will be easier to get him home in the water.”
“Good idea.” Ariel helps her. When they get him back to the beach, Melody runs inside to get someone to help. Two kitchen staff come out with her. They put Eric on a sheet and carry him up to their room.
Four hours later Eric comes round. Ariel is sat next to him. His head is in her lap and she is stroking his hair. “If this is heaven it looks pretty good so far.” Ariel smiles at him.
“What happened?”
“I can’t remember.”
“Come on.” She kisses him. “Try.”
“Nope I can’t remember anything, the last thing I remember is running after Morgona.”
“Oh.”
Melody walks in. “Dad.” He turns his head and smiles at her. “Melody.” He sits up and Ariel beckons Melody to come closer. She walks round the bed and Eric hugs her. “Dad I’m sorry.”
“What for Mel?”
“I thought I could save everyone.”
“You did, didn’t you?”
He looks at Ariel. She shakes her head and mouths. “Rick died saving her.” He squeezes Melody closer.
“Oh Mel…” She cries into his shoulder. “Look the main thing is that we are all together and nothing can split us apart again.”
“I only wish it was that simple.”
