As they rode up the mountain, Nelvil pointed out to the many caves that jutted out from the rocks. Alman knew the cat’s lair was in those many caves. It was like the mountains were filled with them.

They traveled for most of the day, trying to get in as much distance as they could. Alman hoped for this day to be over so they could reach the bottom of the mountain before anyone else got hurt but he knew that they would have to spend another night with the cats. They were all exhausted from not getting any sleep the night before and now to have to go through another night, Alman didn’t know if he could do it. He looked around at the land that would one day be his. It was beautiful. The grass within the trees had a mystical quality to it. With everything that had been going on, he never had a chance to really see his land. Going into some of the open areas, Alman was able to look at the vast land before him. He knew that there were tales of years ago when there were no walls. They were put up to stop the wars. To control the violence and make sure that people lived in peace. Sure, they had some people who would try to start something and the lower guards would be dispatched to clear the situation. The higher guards were for the King's protection. His father talked of the walls; everyone did but no one would dare to venture too close to the west forest. Men lost their lives trying to find a way through it, never to be seen again. Alman knew that on the south side they had a leak in the wall and it had been fixed but by the time it was noticed, the people who got through had blended in with everyone else.
