Chapter 13 – The Idol of Tindher
Both Idaha and Pelmec slowly started walking towards the basement, there they were able to see that there was a festive atmosphere as they knew that they were going to please their demon and all their wishes would be fulfilled.
Near the basement there was a large well which probably was another of the water sources to make sure that the idols were cleaned completely everyday by the temple priests. Now the entire temple had the atmosphere of a war torn area as the Asuras had taken over and had tortured the living hell out of all the people.
Both Pelmec and Idaha remembered each and every word of Acura, they were confident now of destroying the Asuras once and for all, but who knows what destiny had in store?
Pelmec wrapped the trophy heads with a useless cloth which was lying on the ground so that the Asuras would not get any clue regarding it. Both Pelmec and Idaha went to the basement which led them to the back entrance of the temple. There, just at the entrance both of them were able to spot many happy Asuras having some sort of a concoction, both of them gave big, wide smiles to each other as they knew that they could now be fooled easily as all of them were half-drunk and that as it is all of them had very small sized brains as such. At the corner of the room they were able to see a giant sized man whom they were immediately able to recognize as Kalihan and the idol of the God of thunder ‘Tindher’ was standing majestically waiting to remove the heads of everybody in its way.
Pelmec and Idaha decided to enter the room come what may and lure the Asuras keeping the mercury in their mind. Little by little Pelmec started releasing the deposits of mercury from the bottle that Acura had given, one by one the Asuras who had already got drowsy because of the drink started chasing mercury and all of them started running ‘helter-skelter. It was complete chaos at the back entrance of the temple. Kalihan did not even realize what was happening, a shrewd Asura that he was, he had restricted himself from getting fully drunk and he spotted the twins laughing and enjoying their moment after the Asuras had all left the premises of the temple trying to search for the so called Nectar (Mercury). This is what happens when obsession takes over the mind, everything will look like the thing that the mind wants badly.
Kalihan got up, Idaha and Pelmec gulped a few drops of saliva out of fear, they were scared not about what would happen to them, but to the people of their island. After some time there was the shout of a lady and Idaha’s face changed, he had hoped for the worst and he was right, Kalihan brought Olivaha to the place where the twins were standing startled.
Kalihan pulled out a huge sword and threatened to kill Olivaha, at that moment there was a whisper in Pelmec’s ears, though there was nobody standing next to him he was able to feel a voice speak to him, the voice said “Use the drum next to the idol of Tindher, beat the drum thrice and ask Idaha to drag Olivaha to a safe spot and leave the rest to God. You can go and hide next to the old chimney, and do not forget to blow the flute so as to light the three lamps.”
Pelmec felt like as if Acura was giving instructions to him and followed the voice exactly as it had instructed. Pelmec gave an eye signal which Idaha understood, Pelmec gave a small leap and landed near the drum, he beat the drum thrice so hard and played the flute so as to light the three lamps, and Idaha immediately jumped around 3 feet to his left dragged Olivaha and hid in a safe spot. There was a lightning strike and the idol came to life, there was a shining demi-god standing in the room and he was giving a roar like a Lion. Hearing all the commotion the remaining Asuras thought that Kalihan was in danger and came to look out for him which in fact was true, but their decision was wrong.
The moment all of them assembled in the room, Tindher moved so very swiftly that it was difficult for anyone to find out what was happening in the basement of the temple. He brought out a sword using his mystical powers and started moving like as if he was on roller-skates and the sharp sword made sure that the heads of the Asuras started rolling out on the floor.
In the meantime Pelmec had forgotten to hide in the place the voice had asked him to, and when Tindher went near Pelmec he grabbed the bag that Pelmec was holding and spared his life and went ahead trying to finish off the remaining Asuras. Pelmec was sweating badly at the thought of cheating death, but he still had a doubt why was he spared, at that moment Acura appeared in front of Pelmec. Pelmec was very happy to see Acura.
Acura said “You offered the trophy heads to Tindher and that is the reason he spared you and one more important thing is that he can read the aura of a person, maybe he found out that you are a very noble soul” and winked at Pelmec.
Pelmec knew that Acura was instrumental in getting all the things right so as to save the people. Idaha and Olivaha too joined Acura and Pelmec. Olivaha took the blessings of Acura but was still scared as Kalihan was missing from the scene.
“Where is Kalihan” asked Pelmec?
Acura said “Gone for good. He is the arch rival of Tindher, Tindher had sworn to kill him at the basement of this temple, Asuras that they are, do not have sixth sense, so unknowingly he had come to the same location where Tindher had sworn to kill him, the moment you used the drum thrice somewhere deep inside his psyche he probably got a clue that his end was near and ran away leaving the Asuras to die at the hands of Tindher.”
“But where did he go to” asked Idaha?
Acura said “Not sure, but I will surely find out, now it is time to make sure the people of the island are fine. So you three make sure you help the others and leave for Coatazuma in a day’s time, isn’t it time to go and meet your children?”
Idaha had completely forgotten about his twin kids. Acura after blessing the three of them disappeared from the temple. The three of them started exploring the temple premises to make out if everybody was fine. There was complete bloodshed; all the Asuras were lying headless. The only bad thing that the three thought was that Kalihan was missing, so they knew that the entire island was still risking, facing their enemy again. But the thought of at least surviving the brutal attack of the Asuras calmed their minds.
The people who had been enslaved were all rubbing their hands and legs happy at the thought of being set free again. Idaha was shocked to find Tindher standing as an idol in a soldier’s position in front of the main temple idol. Idaha gave a sarcastic smile which showed his inability to understand everything that had happened in his life till date, how destiny had forced him to leave the beautiful hutment of Chonohaush to Coatazuma and then to all the corners of the island and emerge out a brave hero.
All the people gave a huge shout in excitement and started carrying the twins on their shoulders celebrating the victory over the Asuras. Idaha after completing the celebrations went near Olivaha and gave a loooong kiss on her left cheek, Olivaha started blushing, she was happy that her husband was normal after all the things that he had done.
The three of them stayed in the temple for the night just to make sure that nothing untoward would happen after Kalihan had all of a sudden disappeared from the scene. In the morning the three of them started their journey towards Coatazuma and reached the temple of the Five Elements. Inside the temple as usual Vilom was taking care of their children along with Maya. Idaha knew that Maya was their mother, he told Pelmec regarding it and both of them rushed towards their mother and hugged her tightly out of affection.
Maya started shedding tears of joy, Chakra the Wise Man also appeared as an ethereal being. Both of them blessed their children and flew away like angels and disappeared out of everybody’s sight. Idaha was beaming looking at his twin boys.
Pelmec said “They will also become brave warriors like us, what do you say?”
Idaha out of affection hugged his brother Pelmec. Vilom arranged for their accommodation and informed them that they could rest for a few days in the temple and then go back home.
Three of them spent a few days in the temple worshipping LORD GABHIRO, in the temple of the Five Elements. At that time a huge Eagle flew down near the cave of th
e temple and delivered a manuscript and flew back from where it had come.
Idaha started reading the manuscript and said “This looks like a letter from Acura; he will be coming to meet us here in a few days, strict instructions for us to stay here.”
Pelmec gave a moan and said “I hope we are not on another adventure, I need rest.”
Olivaha and Idaha said in chorus “Heroes never rest; they fight till their last breath.”
