Alan was catching up, but not very fast. He cursed Italian shoe makers for not making a model with a tread. I’ve got you now, he thought. Just then, he saw the kid throw the silver brick into a stand of bushes and disappear behind them.

  A moment of hesitation was all the kid needed to escape as Alan decided to look for the brick. Alan stopped, worked his way into the bushes, found the brick, and scooped it up. He could still catch the kid if he could beat him to his vehicle. Alan sprinted through the park toward the street carrying the package. When he reached the street, he couldn’t believe his luck! The Suburban was still there! Alan stepped into the street and looked around, but saw nothing.
