Read Under Suspicion - The Legend of D.B. Cooper Page 85

In a large conference room in Seattle, Governor Wilson sat at the head of a large table. Mayor Demsey and the other mayors were sitting around the table listening to him speak, when suddenly the door burst open. “Sorry to interrupt, sir,” Wilson’s aid said winded. “But you said that you wanted to be kept informed on the D.B. Cooper story.”

“Yes, what is it?” Wilson turned away from the stack of papers in front of him and looked over his reading glasses at his aid.

“A special report is being broadcast on the television.”

Mayor Demsey got up and stepped quickly to the large TV in the corner of the room. “What channel?”

“It doesn’t matter. It’s on all of them,” came the reply.

Demsey turned on the power and Rick’s PBY filled the screen.

Lieutenant Cranston was sitting in his office pouring over a stack of paperwork when O’Leary opened the door. “Sir! Bradley is at it again.”

Cranston pulled the reading glasses off his face and rushed out of the office towards the conference room. A large group of agents were huddled around the TV and staring at the circling plane.

  “What’s happening?” Cranston asked.

“I don’t know. It just came on.” O’Leary replied.
