  Chapter 2

The next day, Alessandra was waiting once again to talk to Santa along with the other girls that had come with them.

She looked up at Helen and said, "Ma'am, can I tell you something?"

"Why, of course you can sweetheart. Are you alright?"

Yes, I am fine but I want to know if you think it will be alright if I ask Santa to make my dad unsick? Do you think he can do that?"

Helen smiled but her eyes were sad. She knew the problems with Salvatore and thought that he might not be of this earth much longer. Of course, she didn't say that to this beautiful little girl.

"I think it would not hurt to ask. I am sure that Santa will do everything he can to help your dad. So don't be afraid to ask him."

Later that night, when her mother picked her up, she told her what she had asked Santa for. Her mother hugged her but her eyes were brimming with tears and Alessandra knew things were not good.
