Chapter 6
“Thanks for walking me to class.” I told Shane, kissing his cheek quickly.
He smiled at me. “No problem, I’ll see you later Rosebud.” He gave my hand a small squeeze.
“See you.” I smiled as he walked away to go to his class.
God, I love that boy.
And now, I can proudly say that he’s all mine.
This started that day he invited me into his room three days ago, and we’ve been a couple ever since.
Flashback
“So…” I looked down at my feet.
"Want to come in?" He asked nervously.
A smile broke out onto my face “I’d love that.”
I looked around his room that I had missed so much and my smile turned into a huge grin. He walked past me and plopped down on his bed, playing the movie he was watching.
“Are you watching Indiana Jones?” I asked.
He nodded, smiling at me. He patted the spot next to him on his bed and I noticed how his muscles rippled as he patted the bed.
I walked over and laid down next to him, trying to watch the movie, but I couldn’t focus on it with his warm and shirtless body against mine. Before long I found myself leaning into his chest and he wrapped an arm around my body.
“Shane?” I asked.
“Yeah?”
“You remember what I said at the door?”
He chuckled. “Something along the lines of ‘I want you and only you Shane.’” He mimicked my voice.
I punched his chest softly. “I don’t sound like that…and…I don’t know how to say this…” I trailed of, mentally slapping myself.
What do I say now?
I just made it more awkward.
He pulled away to look at my face and raised an eyebrow at me.
“Sorry, I just don’t know what to do because I don’t want to mess this up and all but there’s so many things I want to tell you and I don’t know how I can. I just feel like I’m really awkward with these kinds of things and I wish that I could-”
“Hey.” He said, stopping my rambling as our faces moved closer until they were inches apart. “I love you.”
Then he pressed his lips against mine, setting firecrackers off in my stomach. I tangled my hands in his hair, pulling him closer to me.
I pulled away for a second and we looked each other in the eyes. “Say it again.” I breathed.
“I love you Rosebud.” A grin spread across his face.
“I love you too.” I murmured, before closing all the space between us as our lips met again.
When we finally had to pull away from air, I felt so elated and complete. Shane was who I needed all along, he made me feel perfect and I loved this feeling.
“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that.” He admitted.
“I’m glad you did.” I said, biting my lip.
He sighed, and he took one of my hands in his and he drew circles in it. “Rose, will you be my girlfriend?” He suddenly asked, still looking at my hand.
“What?” I asked, in shock.
His eyes shot over to me and he held a hand to his heart in fake hurt. “Ouch.”
I chuckled. “Yes! Yes, of course I’ll be your girlfriend.” I clarified.
He beamed at me. “I love you Rose Smithson. Way too much.”
End of Flashback
So now I have the most amazing boyfriend on the face of the planet and I made him forgive me in less that forty-two hours like Darren told me to, so he should be visiting anytime soon then.
I walked into my English class smiling like a fool and I took my seat near the front once again.
“Well if it isn’t little Rose.” Someone said, walking up to my desk.
I looked over to see Mandy and then turned away, ignoring her.
“Me and Chase got back together, but I think you know that.” She continued, giving me a fake smile.
I just opened my notebook and pretended I didn’t hear her, because if I do talk to her, then I’ll say something I’ll regret.
When is Darren getting here?
“What’s wrong? Cat got your tongue?” She asked.
I rolled my eyes, but didn’t say anything, can’t she take a freaking hint!
“Listen, I don’t know if you-”
“Gosh Mandy, for someone who hangs around people a lot, you really don’t seem to know when you’re not wanted.” I interrupted her.
She raised an eyebrow at me. “What was that?”
“That was my nice way of saying ‘get the hell away from me’” I replied.
She narrowed her eyes at me. “Do you really want to get into this again?” She threatened.
“No. Not really, hence the ‘get the hell away from me’ duh.”
“You know what Rose, if you think that it’s all-”
The door opened and Mr. Crosswell walked in. “Okay class, get out your papers, and bring them to my desk!” he said, putting down his briefcase and sitting at his desk.
Mandy scowled at me, and then went to her seat at the back of the classroom with the rest of the popular people.
After turning in our papers, I spent the whole class being bombarded with spitballs from Mandy and her crew.
After I ignored them for a while though, they altogether stopped.
“What’s wrong?” Shane asked.
I put down my tray of food, leaning against the tree. “I was kind of nasty to Mandy today.”
He raised an eyebrow. “And that bothers you?”
I nodded slowly. “I’m trying to change here, it’s hard but I can’t make progress by being cruel to people.”
He sighed, and wrapped his arm around me. “I think you’re amazing.”
I felt my cheeks heat up as I smiled at him. “Thanks.”
“So what are you going to do?” He asked.
“What?”
“About Mandy.”
“Oh. I think I’m going to apologize to her.” I told him.
He gave me a small smile. “Good luck.”
“Should I do it now?” I asked.
He shrugged. “If you want.”
I stood up and took his hand. “Come with me?” I asked.
He stood up and we walked to the cafeteria together. “I’ll wait here.”
I took a deep breath.
“This should be good.” He muttered.
I punched him in the arm. “You’re a jerk.”
“And you love it.” He said, kissing me on the forehead.
I smiled at him, then turned and walked up to the popular table.
Mandy turned and scoffed. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m sorry Mandy, I was unkind today.” I said.
She raised an eyebrow at me. “You’re apologizing to me?”
I nodded.
“Well…okay, it’s fine, I guess.” She said, flustered.
Wow.
That was easy.
“Really?” I asked.
She sneered. “Hell no! You can go screw yourself, loser.”
She laughed at me and then turned around to her friends who were also laughing at that.
Of course.
My eyes met with Chase’s for a few seconds and as I looked at him, I realized that I had never felt anything for him. When I look at Shane, it’s so different from how things were with Chase.
It was always Shane.
I quickly turned and stalked out of the cafeteria.
“How’d it go?” Shane asked.
I rolled my eyes. “I’m done with that, who needs Mandy’s forgiveness.”
I walked down the empty halls of school because I had stayed back to talk to a teacher. As I was making my way to Shane’s car, I got stopped and I turned around to be face to face with Chase Baxter.
“Oh…hey.” I muttered.
He gave me a weak smile. “Hey babe.”
“Don’t call me that.”
“What?” He asked.
“Babe. Don’t call me that, I’m with Shane now and I
’m not your babe Chase.”
He sighed. “Right. Shane…”
“So, is there any particular reason you wanted to talk to me?” I asked, trying to break the tension in the air.
I tried looking as bored as possible so that he could get the hint that I don't want to talk to him.
“Um...yeah, look Rose, I just wanted to say that I’m really sorry.”
I nodded slowly. “Bye.”
“Wait.” He grabbed my hand, turning me around. “Can you please forgive me?”
I shook my head. “Look, I don’t know Chase, I’m over it, but that was really cruel what you did. An ‘I’m sorry’ doesn’t just fix it.”
“Well then what do you want?” He asked.
“Well firstly, let go of my hand.”
“Right.” He dropped my hands and shoved his into his pockets.
“There’s nothing I want you to do Chase, I’m happy with Shane and we don’t have to see each other. You’ll graduate soon and you won’t have to worry about me.” I told him.
“But you don’t understand, I still have feelings for you babe.”
“I told you not to call me that.” I hissed.
He shrugged. “Don’t act like you don’t like it.” He took a step closer to me. “Just give this another chance please?”
I tried pushing him off me, but he hand me pinned against a wall, and he held my hands over my head with his.
“Chase, Get. Off. Me.” I growled.
He chuckled. “I like it when you play hard to get.” He murmured, bringing his lips to my ear.
“I’m not playing hard to get because you’re not getting anything.”
“You’re loving this, aren’t you?” He breathed, before he licked my earlobe.
I held back the urge to gag.
“What are you doing!” I exclaimed, trying to get my hands out of his. “Let me go you weirdo!”
“Don’t fight it.”
“Get off of her.” Someone growled.
Chase turned to see Shane looking ready to kill somebody.
“H-Hey, chill man.” Chase said, puffing out his chest to look intimidating. “You’re kind of being a nuisance.”
Bad move Chase.
I know that Shane’s been in his share of fights and could easily take down Chase so if I was Chase, I would’ve run by now.
Shane took a deep breath. “Get off of her.” He repeated.
Chase smirked, and he pulled me on his body grabbed my butt.
What the hell?
Before I could comprehend that, he was slammed onto the wall and as he fell down, I saw some blood run down his face.
Shane was going to punch him again, but I quickly stopped him.
“Don’t.” I said, looking into his eyes and they started to soften, but he still looked extremely angry. “Let me do it.”
He raised an eyebrow at me as I walked over to Chase and with all my strength I kicked him in the side and he groaned and rolled over.
“That’s for cheating on me, I hope it was worth it.”
I took a deep breath and turned to Shane.
“You’re hot when you’re angry.” He said, as we walked to his car.
I rolled my eyes. “Hey, where’s your car?” I asked.
He smirked and he patted a motorbike next to him.
My jaw dropped. "Are you trying to kill me with that thing?" I asked.
He chuckled. "Come on, I'll take you home."
“I’m not getting on that, what happened to your car?”
He shrugged. “I sold for this, I was feeling empowered.”
I nodded slowly. “Still not getting on it.”
He got on the bike and revved the engine. “Come on Rosebud, I’ve got you.”
I took a deep breath and got on the bike, wrapping my arms around him as tight as possible.
“You ready?” He called over the engine.
I leaned into his body and closed my eyes. “As ready as I’ll ever be.”
