Eagle peered in, hovering at the broken window.

“Jade, are you well?” it sang.

Jade lifted up from the bed and faced the window.

“Yes, Eagle. Thank you for bringing Kendis.”

She noticed Eagle was wearing only its feathers.

Hmm, it must have a reason for that. Maybe it reduces drag? She’d have to ask it.

She stared at it for a moment, admiring the beautiful, multicolored plumage starting at a point from about where its belly-button would be, if it’d had one, spreading down and out to cover a pouch containing the mostly male part of its dual nature. Jade knew the feathers went under it and back up to the base of its spine to meet with the feathers growing down the middle of its back from its crest - End school Elvwist biology.

She was totally naked and she didn’t care if Eagle saw her - or Montford for that matter - and Kendis had already seen her without clothing: she just wished she had such lovely feathers.

Crap. She had Elvwist friends too. Montford thought he might be screwed. Why hadn’t the precog mentioned any of this?
