CHAPTER FORTY EIGHT

Wednesday the seventh of April, nineteen ninety-nine, ten am. Air Force One was on safe passage to South Australia.

Meanwhile, beneath the North Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida, a man looked out of a clear capsule into the blue depths; fish swam past only metres from him. The capsule made up one of a series of rooms that was the headquarters for The Six-Sided Circle, one hundred metres below the sea surface. A grand table in the centre of the room was a strange shape. Originally a circle, it had been cut to have six sides. Five sides were of equal dimensions, a sixth side was far wider, it was a symbol of importance to those with a particular birth date. Five men sat in leather-bound chairs on the five equal sides. A strange aura had their faces hidden in darkness although the room was well lit. The sixth man turned and sat at the wider table face; he was a huge man. Six foot seven; his jet-black hair was shoulder length. His well developed body made the stitching of his expensive silk suit creak as he moved. He had immense hands with expensive gold rings and precious stones on most fingers, his wide jaw had a distinct dimple in the centre. His name was Baden Steel, chosen human form of the Supreme Demon. He spoke in a voice so low you had to be a Bison to catch the details. “The Dover, why did she go so far? It was meant to be a twelve-hour test for our communication system; we nearly lost all our hard work.” Steel spoke with an obvious Russian accent. “Number three, why?”

There was a few moments silence before a refined English voice came from the darkness of the third position around the table. “Everything works fine, the cloaking device, our radio frequency changer, just as all other tests we have carried out. The only difference was the cyclone, seems we have a problem with our system around heavy static in the atmosphere. We had no contact while she was under the Cyclone, nor could we turn off the cloaking device. It was a very rare occurrence.”

Steel’s voice groaned again. “Number two, your people developed this, can it be fixed?”

An American voice spoke from the haze of position two; it was Ridge Mortimer, George Mortimer’s son. “I have no idea, I would imagine with time we can improve it.”

Steel smashed his clenched fist down on the table. “Improved! It will be fixed! Now for the real reason for this unscheduled meeting. It seems the Australian Government have a weapon of great power that could and to some degree already has, interfered with our plans. In some way we were lucky they intervened when they did. Our network is not yet ready for Armageddon, although very close. I must now tell you something you must all know. You have pledged yourselves to the destruction of good, in return for everlasting life. We control the planet armies between us, you don’t know each others identities so I may control you as a unit and that is the only use you have to me, as a unit. If one of you is to die then the circle is broken and you will all die. Somewhere on the face of the earth is a chosen being. I have existed since the dawn of time, so listen carefully to what I have to say. He will be righteous and in high office of the church, he will possess powers that can kill you. These things I have seen many times; they make me sick; we must now search for this being. We must look to places I had not considered, such as Australia. This weapon they have if controlled by the chosen one, may be our downfall.”

“May I speak?” asked Ridge Mortimer.

  “Granted,” grunted Steel.

“The President is on his way to see this weapon now; my father is with him. Americans apparently developed a big part of it; I may have some valuable information soon. It is in the possession and control of the Australian Prime Minister, Jason Brinkly. Could he be the chosen one?”

“I have read much of this man. His background and form resemble nothing of the chosen one, if you think that way it proves he’s a distraction. Look within his close friends and report back as soon as you can. We must destroy him before the end of two thousand and one, so our plan of decimation of all good can proceed on the celebration of the birth of their saviour. All relevant information has been transferred amongst us, take it and continue our penetration of the armed forces. We will leave as we always do.”

One by one they took the passageways of the underwater complex to the surface. Tube lifts were the only access to the complex; the lift’s entrances were shrouded by vast palm trees on a floating island of a few acres. The helicopters that carried them were held in an under island bunker and were elevated to the surface when required. The dark shrouds surrounding their heads faded as they left the island. Ridge Mortimer thought hard as his chopper headed for the coast, it landed at the Stormway Shipping complex on the Florida coast, home of the Seadragon autonomous submarine project. With the information supplied from his anonymous allies, he would be further able to develop the take-over system working its way through the American armed forces. This was happening systematically throughout the world by direction of The Supreme Demon, through the Six-Sided Circle. A specially developed computer chip was being installed on all military hardware and software across the world. When the massive task was complete in only a few more weeks, the Six-Sided Circle could take control of the world’s most powerful weapons and armies. Steel would then lay the world to waste, giving The Six-Sided Circle full control and fulfilling their goal of only Evil in the new millennium. The good would be enslaved; terror and suffering would be cast upon them.
