Read Fandri's Adventures Page 33

After several days of rest and recuperation, Sir Rawlan led his few remaining knights, squires, Fandri and the fairy to Varx Castle on the Diagro Plains. They arrived too late in the evening to see King Varan.

Unlike the outpost two-towered castles Fandri had seen before, Varx Castle was a true citadel rising on a hill above the plains. It had been built over thousands of years and the halfling’s jaw dropped as he took in its moonlit splendour. A deep, wide moat surrounded the outer of three concentric stone walls. The fortress within boasted many grey stone towers that reached for the sky.

Cheers arose from people pouring out of taverns to greet the company of horses trotting up the cobblestone street to the inner castle.

After long days in the saddle, the boys were grateful for a hearty meal and comfortable beds. They fell asleep as soon as their heads touched the downy pillows.
