This part of us I’m always gon miss

But here Boo - come get your last hug - your last kiss

  POETIC REFLECTION

First off if you are in a relationship you should not be out anywhere alone drinking with anybody. I have no sympathy for her. She made her bed now she has to lie in it! Chicks (not women) can ruin that man’s trust for the rest of his life towards all women. And as few as it may be, there are women out there who actually practice loyalty and honesty. Don’t give up, everyone needs love and companionship. Casual relationships will become totally unfulfilling to you as you mature. Why? Because no one knows you, no one knows your likes and dislikes, you waste your time repeating the same things over and over again. And although you may have been emotionally wounded, never tell a woman you will never trust her, yet instead explain to her that you have had emotionally damaging relationships in the past and it’s difficult for you to trust but I repeat never say “I will never trust you”, because that’s mentally killing the relationship’s potential before it’s had the opportunity to grow. And should you stay together you may begin to mistreat that person who you’ve been waiting for all the time because you already planted in your mind “Bitches ain’t shit”. You cannot build anything with someone you don’t trust. That goes for anything in life.

  BLACK POWERFUL FEMALE by: Heaven

Beautiful is she in all her splendor

  Persistence in everything she endeavors

Firstly for her Lord and Savior, then her family falls in thereafter

Brilliant without a doubt and oh, so clever

Plenty of wit and please don’t forget vigor

Feminine in her ways with true class and manners

Breadwinner she sometimes has to be, when left alone to raise her family

Pressure sets in just to test her

For strength and guidance she prays to the most high to bless upon her

Bold and she’s not ashamed to show it

Positive in her heart that things planted properly will grow

Family, Love and Happiness is what she’s striving after, determined in her mind of not letting that go

Woman, oh Black Woman, who are often harassed and scrutinized because of their color, who are surpassed by their different characters, personalities and goals.

Some are daughters, aunts and mothers finding it very hard to reach their dreams untold.

Yet nevertheless the ones who make it will always tell you their tale,

The way for us - a woman to make it in the real world of the so-called dominant males,

is to be a Black Powerful Female

  P.S.

  Proud as a peacock

For what she’s accomplished on her own and got

Proud as a peacock, watch her strut her stuff.

She’s here to let you brothers know,

  I’m a Black Powerful Female,

who’s never giving up and never letting go.

At the top is where I need to be

But hey don’t hate, I’m just being me.

CHECK THIS SHIT OUT by: Sherry Coleman

You got people in New Orleans dying

You got the fucking prez. on t.v. lying

You got grandparents, mothers and fathers with children hungry

More and more people here are getting more and more angry

You know we are one of the richest countries in the world

And I tell you my brothers and sisters it’s hard to tell, makes minds twirl

We the people of the united states are supposed to serve and protect

More likely it’s every man for themselves

No schools, no books hanging on shelves

No pictures hanging on the walls, no kids are playing in the park

Their minds are shattered, now their hearts are wandering in the dark

  There are cries going across

You got people helping people, you got the red cross on sight

It’s very hot during the day and it gets very still at night

  SKIT... FUCK THEM NIGGERS

“Fuck them niggers! Let them all die! And for the ones who don’t die from us starving them, kill em’. Shoot to kill them sons of bitches! Men, women children, old folk - all them damn niggers. They ain’t worth shit anywany. Ya’ll ain’t being deployed to rescue no damn body. Patrol the streets. If I hear that any of you were out there playing Mr. Lifesaver you will be dealt with!”

“But with all respect due sir, didn’t you tell the American people that we’re coming to help and rescue them?”

“Who the hell just said that? Was it you boy? ‘Cause I’ll take you out back right now and hang your black ass from that tree. We all know monkeys like swinging from trees.”

  “No sir, it was me.”

“WHAT!!! You god damn nigger lover. How the hell did your momma raise you boy? How the hell can you feel for these animals? ‘Cause that’s what they are, god damned animals. Three fifths of a person. It is in the constitution we live by and it ain’t never comin’ out!!!”

“So don’t you forget that boy! - You ain’t no person.”

POETIC REFLECTION… WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY?

Nothing I say will heal your wounds. What am I supposed to say? Everything’s going to be alright? How can I assure you of something I’m uncertain of? Although, I can feel your pain and have shed tears I have not walked in your shoes so I won’t attempt to act like I know the extent of what you are enduring. I don’t know why everyone’s acting surprised though. When has this government ever looked out for our best interest if it wasn’t going to better their position politically? Did you really think we we’re looked upon as equals? We as a people have allowed ourselves to fall for the bullshit and yes I said fall because we have fallen. We allowed ourselves to be led by the very people whose ancestors enslaved us. That blood now flows through their veins along with the ides they carried. This is a wakeup call for all - even caucasians who thought racial issues were nonexistent or that we’ve come so far as a people. Everything happens for a reason and you know it always takes a funeral to bring the Black family together, so much so that they end up becoming family reunions. Before, we were skeptical of doing business with our own people due to the stereotype and negative depictions we are fed through every media source possible but now we know and understand that all we have is ourselves. We never wanted to put money into Black owned banks, Black projects, Black ideas, etc. We would do everything in our power to avoid that by saying, “you know how black people are”. WHAT??? You are talking about yourself. You are saying that you are incompetent of succeeding in this life. Though I must commend all of us who have contributed to the relief efforts of the government’s victims also known as the Hurricane Katrina victims. It’s refreshing to see our Black people coming to our aid (not shown on the mainstream news though, all you see is caucasians coming to our aid, the media won’t come to the neighborhoods of Blacks when we are filling up truck load after truck load of goods to be taken directly to our extended family in the South - they were contacted but never showed) I would like to thank the government for this blatant FUCK YOU because it has caused a new awakening and unification amongst us that will not break. The alarm clock has gone off and we will not press the snooze button any longer!

  AM I SUPPOSED TO FORGET?

You beat me, you raped me - yet expect us to be cool

You must not see truth in what comes around goes around and being mindful of what you do

You took me from my mama when I was just 12 years old

Men grabbed and groped my body ‘till I heard the gavel slam and a voice say SOLD

  Mama, help me - please - no - I don’t wanna go

I been here now for seven years

Bitterness, anger, vengeful thoughts of r
etaliation have taken the place of fearful tears

My face is as hard as a man’s should be

And the man’s face is feminine from him continuously being beat

Stand up for yourself you’ll lose more than your teeth

They don’t stop there - they’ll cheeringly guide you to the nearest tree

Me and the massa’s wife had our baby ‘round the same time

My baby had to get milk from a cow’s titty to make him grow big and strong while young massa got brain food from mine

You beat, lynched, and charred my husband ‘cause he confronted your cowardly ways

To instill fear - it was done in front of everyone and you whipped all who attempted to look away

Now as a result my child will never know his father - most likely won’t even know me

I overheard ya’ll talkin’ ‘bout who ya’ll was takin’ to town tomorrow for auctioning

Think good gon come to you from your wickedness

The universe records all and it don’t miss one tick

The mere sight of you causes my blood to boil

Can’t help thinkin’ every step I take in this field is on blood ridden soil

  POETIC REFLECTION

If any of you from the city have ever been down south I’m sure you have felt our ancestors’ energy. It may have been for a second but I’m sure you stopped and thought to your self what is that but didn’t mention it because you figured people would think you was “buggin’ out”. There are certain parts of the south I have traveled to and felt a strong presence of our grandfathers, grandmothers, uncles, aunt, and cousins (even as a child). The names of some of these places don’t help like Neuse River or Plantation apartments. There’s slavery auction blocks still standing and confederate flags still hanging as proud monuments of the state and what it truly represents which translates into FUCK YOU NIGGERS!!! WE DON’T RESPECT YOU, YOU’RE THREE FIFTHS OF A PERSON. YOU DON’T BELIEVE ME GO READ THE CONSTITUTION NIGGER, YOU’RE NOT A WHOLE PERSON AND WE’RE NOT GONNA TREAT YOU LIKE ONE.

AIN’T NOTHIN’ WE DIDN’T KNOW ALREADY

Bush is a bitch and we all know this - why the fuck are actin’ surprised

Ain’t man enough to look us in our eyes so he flies by in a helicopter observing from the sky

Texas is the worst place for us to be sent

Before this we were only 12 percent of the Texan population but of all death row inmates, 50 percent

Much of our future is dead, floating in toxic water because they was too young - they couldn’t hold on

Newborn infants thrown in garbage cans because the aftermath of the storm was too strong

Children committing suicide, jumping off the dome because they’re too young to cope

No mother, no father, no brother, no sister, no home and no hope

Diabetics falling out because they need medication

Got fiends lurkin’ the streets, throwin’ up, cursin’ and shakin’

While Bush bitch ass is holding a news conference comfortable at his home talking about what he’s going to do

I really don’t want to hear that shit - take us to safety - bring us water - bring us food

Can’t even keep your word on that

But give racist ass cops free rein to aim at our backs and fire their gats

I go to the store for something to eat and drink you say that I’m looting

But if I was caucasian you’d commend me and say you’re a survivalist - just doing what you have to be doing

I’ll be damned if this ain’t a wake up call. Better turn and look at the Black face next to you and say you’re my family you’re my friend

And ya’ll thought something was wrong with the Honorable Elijah Muhammad promoting separate land for us and separate land for them

This is the Fall of Amerikkka. The towers coming down was just the tip

And amerikkka will surely go through more hell as long as Bush and his ideas remain president

You ain’t doing shit but you turned Canada, Cuba, Venezuela and many other nations assistance away

You don’t want their help ‘cause amerikkka’s supposed to be the big hero - amerikkka’s the one that’s supposed to save every other nation’s day

  When will the lies stop?

Why don’t you just come out and say it “I don’t give a fuck about you niggers - I’m not rushing - I’m waiting for more of ya’ll to drop”

  AFTERMATH OF THE AFTERMATH

  What is this?

Just a modern day rendition of our trip on the slave ship

Don’t know where our families are - don’t know where we’re headed

And this memory in our mind is so deeply imbedded

Had no food, no water to drink or flush the toilet wit’

I was stranded in my home for days with no help from the government

Babies crying not knowing what’s going on - staring into space with a blank face

Because mommy and daddy is dead and there’s no familiar bodies to hold them close and make them feel safe

Saw dead elderly corpses floating by

Tried their hardest to hold on but help never arrived, helicopters and boats just kept passing us by

The stories are heartbreaking and the images even more horrid

Women went into labor, had their baby and threw them in the garbage

It ain’t gettin’ better it’s gettin’ more hectic

In the attic holdin’ on - gettin’ tired - just forget it

How many lives have we lost once again,

At the hands of these uncarin’ racist ass white men???

  THE LOVE

  by: Marcus Slaughter

What makes you get up only after a few hours sleep?

What makes you drag yourself out of bed even though you’re in pain?

What makes you speed down the highway in sleet, snow or rain?

What brings you great pain but at the same time brings you great joy?

It’s the love - you know the love you have for a brother, sister, son, daughter, mother, father, cousin, aunt, uncle

That’s the love that makes you do those things

Sometimes it makes you crazy and sick other times it makes you glad to be part of one’s life

The love, it causes many things

It may have you down and out but always help you raise

Helps you raise above all that is not right in your life

It’s just the love, how better to say it

I hope you can find something in your life that will help with heartache and pain

Something or someone that lifts you threw the rain

So you can shine and be the divine person you are.

Yeah I know, easier said than done

But you must try because with just the love of self you can over come

But with the love of family and friends nothing is out of reach and you will become great

  I LOVE YOU

You are loved by so many, yet act like you don’t know

And feeling the way I do for you - I would never wanna see you go

I know you’re not perfect, neither am I

But when I see you not doing so well - it tears my heart. All I can do is cry

You’re the type of person who could rain on someone’s parade and two minutes later go shine sun through someone’s dark cloud

But no matter what anyone says - of you I’ll always be proud

You make me smile and laugh when I’m feeling like dirt

And I know intentionally my feelings you would never hurt

We’ve sat around and talked about “nothing” all the time

But those times we’ve sat talking about “nothing” have always remained in my mind

Us arguing and fighting? I just can’t see it. What sense would that make?

Doing something so foolish as that, our great relationship might break

If anyone does - I know you may not feel thi
ngs are going your way

But that one precious thing you do have, with it you must always stay

You’re so stubborn that you might not hear what I’m saying to you

But eventually my words will have a powerful impact. I know sooner or later they’ll get through

I’ll be there for you whenever you need me

Just be sure not to take advantage of my kindness and get greedy

You’ve been there at times when I most needed you

So helping you out when it’s needed is the least I can do

I’m glad mom and dad together never had any others

‘Cause there’s no one else who could replace my one and only brother

  “The Don” I Love You

  OFFICIAL TERMINATION

Thought you was gon have the best of both worlds?

Not to hinder your spirits but I just spoke to your girl

You was never my man, though under the impression you were my friend

What you do is your business, but not when you try to play me like a feeble minded hen

It’s time to molt you out my life

Told me you was wit’ her three or four months. Try years - she on the level like wife

  You’re a fuckin’ prevaricator

Your girl done got herself in some shit and she ain’t gon find this out ‘till much later

  She’s pregnant with your child

But you stay coming to my crib, in my face with a smile

  All ties have now ceased

Never again in life will you get in this crease

I was rockin’ wit’ you for how many years?

I ain’t love you like that so I ain’t shed not one brackish tear

  Just to think - I gourmet’d you
